1. Who was shooting most of the black men; was it whites or other black men?
2. What proportion of black men who were shot were killed by by police officers.
3. Why the suicide rate is higher for white men than black men.
I had done some research on this in years past so maybe I can shed some light. From the numbers I could find, 90% of the black men were shot by other black men. The vast majority of homicides are within a person's own race. However, when it comes to cross racial crimes, blacks kill whites at a 15 to 1 ratio. The proportion of black men killed by police, when you look at it in regards to numbers of encounters, blacks are actually being killed less than whites. Blacks are involved in a hugely disproportionately higher rate of criminal activity than whites and thus the level of confrontational encounters is disproportionately higher also. Taking that into account, the statistics actually show blacks being treated more than fairly.
I saw some stats that said in the US blacks had a higher homicide rate than whites at an 8:1 ratio. The numbers I saw from England showed a 4:1 ratio. Using the numbers from England, if you extrapolate that statistically you find the black murder rate in England, where they have it together on gun access, is still higher than the white murder rate in the US, with all the guns. This also applies to Japanese and Korean ethnic minorities in the US who also have a negligible homicide rate and easy access to guns. I have also noticed that if you look at various groups of whites in the US you will find that whites of Appalachian decent, Scots-Irish, or Southern whites, account for a disproportionately high number of gun homicides among whites. If you look at New England or Northern Midwestern whites you find a homicide rate of almost zero among whites.
I know you can manipulate statistics to say almost anything but the above should at least explain why every time there is a shooting the idea that you should blame some old guy in Montana who likes guns is ridiculous. I haven't looked for a while but last time I checked the murder rate in the US with fists, feet and household items was higher than the total murder rate of many European countries. In other words, if you could remove every single gun from America and if not one the the murders committed currently with guns was done another way, you still would have a higher murder rate than many European countries.
