    John Michael Talbot for me.

    My kids would say Jana Alyra, a non-denomionational artist that the kids simply love.

    To the best of my knowledge, as a non-Baptist, I am only allowed in this particular forum.

    Yelsew, who is your favorite Christian Music Artist?

    Martin Luther [IMG] And Charles Wesley and Isaac Watt

    Arise, my soul, arise; shake off thy guilty fears;
    The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears:
    Before the throne my surety stands,
    Before the throne my surety stands,
    My name is written on His hands.

    He ever lives above, for me to intercede;
    His all redeeming love, His precious blood, to plead:
    His blood atoned for all our race,
    His blood atoned for all our race,
    And sprinkles now the throne of grace.

    Five bleeding wounds He bears; received on Calvary;
    They pour effectual prayers; they strongly plead for me:
    “Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
    “Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
    “Nor let that ransomed sinner die!”

    The Father hears Him pray, His dear anointed One;
    He cannot turn away, the presence of His Son;
    His Spirit answers to the blood,
    His Spirit answers to the blood,
    And tells me I am born of God.

    My God is reconciled; His pardoning voice I hear;
    He owns me for His child; I can no longer fear:
    With confidence I now draw nigh,
    With confidence I now draw nigh,
    And “Father, Abba, Father,” cry.

    Third Day, The Kry, DC Talk, Skillet, POD, Tree 63, Phillips Craig & Dean, Rebecca St. James, Michael W. Smith.....

    I could go on for days!

    My family helped start the radio station in California called 'Air 1'. It was originally called 'K-Lord'. I grew up in Calvary Chapel as a teen and went to every Harvest Crusade and K-Lord sponsored concert that took place.

    I love Contemporary Christian Music.

    I am an aspiring artist myself. [IMG]

    Can't beat Fannie Crosby tunes.

    But for modern music, I kinda like the old Folk gospel artists, Doyle Lawson probably my favorite.

    Anyone can post in "Music Ministry" it is one of the four forums that are open to non-baptists.

    I currently have no favorite "Christian Artist", there are many who write and perform "Christian" music in a manner that seems like it would please God.

    Carson,

    I don't know how to really answer this, me being the "orthodox" Catholic that I am.

    If I were to say "Pope Gregory, the Great" (I think that was the pope) who wanted chanting introduced they way he wanted it?

    Gosh, there must be a whole gaggle of unknown authors who contributed to the glorious Gregorian chant that no other music can approach!

    But then, I am an old "fuddy-duddy!"

    God bless,

    PAX

    I'd like to amend my list to add T.J. Klay.

    His CD, "All Kinds of People", particularly the songs, "He Calls Me Son" and "Cross Fit For a King" are outstanding.

    Bill,

    Just had to share this with you. My wife just spent a week studying Gregorian Chant with Dom Saulnier of Solesmes, and he has invited her to organize a master class to go to Solesmes next year for further study. Another chance to do our little part for the reform of the reforms!

    Not to mention that Chants also form the framework for countless pieces of magnificent polyphony and other later Catholic music.

    My favorite Christian Music Artist is now deceased. His name is Rich Mullins, and you can read an article about him here:

    http://www.reginadoman.com/articles/mullins.html

    "I saw Rich Mullins in concert on a Saturday night at Franciscan University's chapel back in 1993. My girlfriends and I literally sat at his feet in the crowded chapel as he played at a grand piano, barefoot. His beat-up docksiders, sporting a large hole in the toe, lay next to him....."

    </font>[/QUOTE]Oh man, you are lucky to have such a wife that is going to have that experience, Mike!

    I understand that the chant is making some comeback, hopefully to replace the guitar, flute, drums and (ugh!) PIANO! that is used in our church!

    I gave our choir director a tape recording of the kind of chant I would like to hear and she was so grateful for the gift!

    But the "hint" didn't take, unfortunately...

    God bless,

    Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
    Body of Christ, save me.
    Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
    Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
    Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
    O good Jesus, hear me;
    Within Thy wounds hide me and permit
    me not to be separated from Thee.
    From the Wicked Foe defend me.
    And bid me to come to Thee,
    That with Thy Saints I may praise Thee,
    For ever and ever. Amen.

    Did he have his dog with him?

    We saw him once (barefoot) and his dog came out with him and laid down under the piano.

    Here they are together...

    I like 4-Him and Ray Boltz, and others as well.

    Anyone ever hear of Don Francisco? (not sure of the spelling on the last name). He does "He's Alive" and "Gotta Tell Somebody", among others.
