I wish I could say Paul looks (acts) the part of a President, but unfortunately I dont' think he does. (Granted, if he was elected he'd undoubtedly change public perception of the office so this would be a moot point.) I'd say several of the candidates from both parties don't look that presidential:

    Dems:

    1) Hillary comes across as too assertive and a scant self-righteous... probably because she's too eager to prove that women can be competitive.

    2) Obama once looked presidential (very) but that was before I saw him dancing with Ellen and gossiping with Trya Banks...

    3) Kucinich is, well...

    4) Dodd/Biden dont' stand out (especially from each other) which isn't a bad thing if you're trying to be something other than President.

    Pubs:

    1) Romney smiles too much, way too much . Way, way too much.

    2) Thompson looks sluggish to the point of being disinterested.

    3) Giuliani twitches, stutters, and speaks hurriedly giving the impression he's nervous.

    4) Paul gives the impression of being somewhat shy.

    5) Huckabee is too friendly and too eager to be noticed as too friendly.

I'd say the top 3 candidates that look/act presidential are:

    1) John McCain. He's polite but stern. He maintains a sense of reservation from the crowd. (Read: doesn't fawn.) He also has the "fire in the belly" more so than anyone else in this race from either party.

    2) John Edwards. This is a guy who can be forgiven for being personable because he's from the South. And with his constant references to his down home roots it makes his friendliness looks genuine. Also, he fits the usual demographics: age, race, home life, etc.

    3) Bill Richardson. I didn't used to think this, but I saw him on Charlie Rose last night and he sounded diplomatic. The guy could stand to shed some pounds and erect his posture, but were he to do so I'd think he could look even more presidential than McCain.

    Thoughts?

I think that when it comes to looks that Mitt Romney looks like he comes straight out of central casting to play president on the big screen.

None of them that are in the running for real seem to have what it takes.

that is simply my opinion. I cannot debate all the finer points of each one's positions, though.

Certainly Mitt Romney has the look he dresses up well but I won't be voting for anyone based on looks.

John Edwards? You have got to be kidding. He is the slimiest of them all. A total fake.
Ron Paul reminds of the banjo player in the movie "Deliverance".

With all of the references to the movie "Deliverance" that I hear in various media at various times maybe I need to watch the movie to understand the references. :)

The movie is a piece of junk, specifically designed to make who choose not to live in the northern cities look like inbred rapists. It's garbage.

Ken's right about Mitt. Tancredo and Paul do not look or act the part. Rudy wants to be Prez so bad, he forces it too much. McCain is unsteady. Fred looks presidential the way Reagan was in that they both came off like their lives didn't depend on it one way or the other (a trait I happen to like). Huckabee sounds presidential, or at least tries to sound that way...sort of.

Barack looks like he's in over his head. Hillary wants it too much (the Rudy of the Dems). Edwards says "uhm" too much. Biden looks presidential but you never know what he's going to say next (something I find appealing). Dodd acts like he's just glad to be on the stage. Kucinich and Gravel are good theater :)

It was from Rudy's visit to Saturday Night Live i think.

As for my thoughts on looking Presidential, i'm watching Glenn Beck chat with Duncan Hunter right now...for the life of me i can't figure out why this guy doesn't have his name out more than he does.
I know being in the House makes it a little tougher to be a household name, but he is right on in so many ways.
