Suddenly that becomes the hot story. Had Trump not made that boo-boo and instead criticized Hillary for the Islamic guy on stage I bet the press would have been forced to cover it.

All Trump would have needed to say is something like, "Did you see the Orlando terrorist's father at the Hillary rally? She can't even deport a Islamic sympathizer from her own rally, how can we trust her to fight terrorism?"
