I don't think that Christians should support John McCain. He is a warmonger. His crude, rude joke about an 18 year old Chelsea Clinton does not reflect Christian values. Yeah, he apologized for it but a grown man, especially one who calls himself a Christian, should know better than to say such a thing in the first place.

Obama (at one point) advocated unilateral military action inside Pakistan, with or without their permission. A little war-mongerish, that was.

He oughtn't to say things like that.

"John McCain likes to say that he'll follow bin Laden to the gates of hell — but he won't even go to the cave where he lives." - Senator Barack Obama

The last time I checked Osama bin Laden was the leader behind the attacks on this nation on 9/11/2001. I think we have the right to take him out regardless of where he is hiding. We were attacked by his organization.

Ok, you've given reasons why a Christian should not vote for McCain. One reason is merely rhetorical and is simplistic (the oft-used "warmonger" tag). And the other is that he told a dirty joke. Oh, and his wife's family made money selling beer. Wow, is that the best you got?

But now I want you tell us why a professing Christian should vote for Obama - and not only vote for him, but do so with enthusiasm? Can you answer that?

This is the article that he wrote that first attracted my attention:

    www.foreignaffairs.org/20070701faessay86401/barack-obama/renewing-american-leadership.html?mode=print

As I have stated before in this forum, social issues do not drive my vote. They are in the mix with all of the other issues but they don't get priority with me in my voting for candidates. If you have a problem with that, I am sorry, but that is just the way it is.

As you like to say, KenH, we are not voting for national pastor.

I'd rather vote for someone with whom I agree on 70% of the issues than one with whom I disagree on 90%.

You know, we would be unable to supply our troops in Afghanistan without the cooperation of the Pakistan government. Unwise to provoke them unneccesarily.

So you are a one-issue voter?

Again, I could see a Christian reluctantly voting for Obama out of ignorance or other mis-informed reasons. But when you show such enthusiasm, one has to conclude that you love everything about the man, including his evil views on abortion and Socialist governance. But I'm sure you'll claim that you are pro-life. Which is why I think you are unstable - the views you claim are so inconsistent and are constantly in flux. You have no compass, it seems.

So, NiteShift, you think we should just bin Laden continue to plot new attacks against our country? I don't. I think we should defend our nation and so does Senator Obama.

I am not running for office, Andy. I am amazed how right-wingers want to make me the issue and make personal attacks against me instead of discussing the candidates, their character, their actions, their positions on the issues.

Me too, though it would be much better to have the permission of Pakistan's leadership before going in there. That is, unless we want another war on our hands.

This is a thread about why people vote for a certain party or candidate. Read the OP. You get so much attention because of your enthusiastic support for a man who supports much evil. It's quite disturbing.

We all say and do things we should not. But McCain is not a warmonger. That is not supported by the evidence. Perhaps Christians should not vote for McCain, but it is beyond doubt that they should not vote for Obama. The two are worlds apart and Obama is farther from Christian morality than McCain is (though they are both far away).

I feel the same way about your and other Christians' support for Senator McCain.

John McCain committed adultery. Barack Obama has not.

Yes, it would. Are you saying that you woudn't go after bin Laden unless Pakistan's government says it is okay?

Supporter? I've said that I can hardly vote for the man. If I do, I will do so reluctantly. You on the other hand, are in love with Obama and all that he stands for. Or at least, that is how your rhetoric comes across. There is a big difference between me (and what I witness of many others on here) who say that they will likely vote for McCain and your utter adulation of Obama. Big difference.

You don't know that (and neither do I). But that's not really the point. McCain said it was his greatest moral failure. But I was speaking of their policies. Obama's policies are explicitly anti-Christian in many respects. That should be a problem for you.

We certainly do know that John McCain committed adultery.

Yes, if that's where Bin Laden is. Pakistan's government has been helpful to us. The general idea is to attack our enemies, not our allies.

Moot point, since Obama will have undoubtedly changed his mind by now.
