Years ago I read a very good article entitled, "How Schools Discriminate Against Boys". I still have a copy in my file. One sentence has stuck with me through the years. It read:

Little boys are allowed to be little boys until they go to school. Then they are expected to be nice little girls.

This was not a slap at little girls.

The author, a woman, went on to say that especially in the primary grades boys and girls should not be in the same classroom and they should not be taught using the same methods. Little boys should be taught using methods that allow them to move around a lot.

I don't believe that author is correct. I went to school with to school with both boys and girls and there was no need for drugs or fear of being shot in school. I believe the article I posted has it right.
