Maybe so, but it's definitely something to consider.

When emergency treatment is mandated by law, free market efficiencies evaporate. Bottom line: the insured bear the cost of the uninsured. Personally, I would like to pay less for my health insurance or to have fewer out of pocket expenses. Treating the uninsured increases my costs. However, it is both humane and Christian to treat those in need of emergency care, regardless of ability to pay. Nonetheless, we are only cost shifting in this instance.

Something has to be done before costs eat us alive. The proposed plans may not be the answer, but we must seek some kind of reform.

There are a number of proposals being offered. We need to stay away from marxist principles.

To finally answer your perceptive question Whoever:

CONvicts are usually bad people. That is the reason of course that they are CONvicts. That obviously excludes people like Jefferson and Rangel [not yet a convict], who are falsely accused and that god of the left, the COP killer in Philadelphia, who has been on death row for 30 years or so.:tear:

Being bad people these CONvicts don't want to see money that could be used for computers, law libraries, gyms, HD TVs, etc., etc. spent on old people who are ready to die.

Hope this answers your question. I really don't understand why you are so interested in CONvicts. I will say that many people who wind up in prison get started on the road to crime simply by trying to deceive honest folks.:laugh:

Agreed. Treating people in emergency rooms who have a cold is not the best use of of resources. We need to shift everyone so they get the appropriate care not the most costly care. We also need to try to get people from going to the doctor's office when they don't really need to go.

The way to do that is not through more laws and regulations...unless you want mass resignations of doctors.

I'm not suggesting that. I would suggest that people be educated to learn that health care is a limited resource and when you go to a doctor with a cold you might be preventing someone with a serious condition from seeing them.

One shortfall of any system of healthcare in which the cost doesn't come out of your pocket: few people care "what it costs" or "who it costs."

I have OK insurance (not state employee good, but certainly not bad).

I go over my bill, itemized, very carefully...and dispute items that are overpriced or improperly billed. I've been told almost no one does that. The view of most folk: "Oh well, insurance will pay for it." (not realizing that eventually, some one must pay)

I expect it to be even worse when gov't is in charge.

If you think your insurance premiums are going to reduce, you are delusional. When everyone is insured the money has to come from somewhere. Where, oh where will they ever get the money to fund it? Hmmm, possibly where the feds get the money for all their other programs - the middle class. We'll be strapped with this one too.

I guess you're right. We Christians just can't make the amount of money that is required to help all those in the world, can we?

If the government stopped taking half of our income in taxes, we just might be able to help a few people out and remove the middle man!

The problem is that we cannot turn this world into a paradise. Only God can. But yes, if they would not take as much of our hard-earned money as they do, we could help a lot of other people.

Yes but the leftists/democrats/whatever do not believe in Christian charity. They believe the god of government can do a better job of building a paradise on earth than the God of the Bible!

This republicant's objection to health care reform has nothing to do with health care. They must oppose everything the Democrats propose; they cannot allow President Obama to have a victory, especially one this large. If they did, the Democrats would hold onto power. This is something the right-wing cannot tolerate. This is why these right-wingers here would rather see the poor suffer than allow a health care victory.

Lets see, are you saying every Republician has voted against every Democrat/Obama propsal?

Also, could you define "Right-wing", and do you believe there is a difference between Democrat and Left wing?

This is just stupidity. The "right-wing" knows there can be no affordable health care without TORT reform. And I guess since the dems now support things like the Patriot Act, domestic spying, and undeclared wars, you must have been looking in the mirror when you wrote this. And nobody who considers a dead, young lady "spilled milk" will be allowed to lecture me on the suffering poor.

Just another lazy liberal who thinks giving with other's earnings is virtuous.
