You might like, or you might not like to watch the following video on why the stock market rally has stalled. It is only one minute and twenty-nine seconds long. Also, for a more in-depth analysis you might want to watch Nightly Business Report on PBS tonight.

N. Korea threatening to reduce the world to ashes.

Kim is like a 5 year old running around the neighborhood brandishing a .45 automatic pistol, safety off, unlocked and loaded "DON'T EVEN LOOK AT ME!!"

Here's why:

The market is beginning to price in the death of Trump’s tax reform

Rest in peace tax reform, we hardly knew ya.

The much awaited tax overhaul promised by President Donald Trump may be dead before it even got anywhere.

Shyam Rajan, a strategist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, on Wednesday suggested that the interest rate market is increasingly pricing in the possibility that tax reform will never come to fruition, contrasting with the general belief that Trump is facing a temporary setback in the wake of the failure to repeal and replace Obamacare.

As I suspected and alluded to months ago: The repeal/replace of ObamaCare will NOT happen overnight and in fact will NOT happen in the manner outlined by Trump. But it will happen.

Several smaller bills and executive orders will come down the pike to repair ObamaCare and we will eventually have a viable ObamaCare 2.0 (without abortoCare). Fine by me, it's about time we had socialized medicine and healthcare for everyone.

Same with tax reform. It WON'T happen overnight but it will happen. I'll predict that the tax break thresholds will change early on and the middle class will get tax relief (the heaviest sector of voters, of course).

So Trump is new at this and is learning that things just DON'T happen overnight on the hill.

But at least with Trump they WILL happen. Won't be exactly as promised but they will happen (for the most part).

As far as I'm concerned he did his job already - Gorsuch reigns.

Interesting point and may well be part of the reason. The market also became overpriced and big money began taking profits. To date Trump has shown himself as a hollow president. Part of his problem may be that he did not pick a good chief of staff. Chief of staff is a very hard job as his most important role is to be tough enough to walk in and tell the president that he is wrong on an issue and needs to change.

There is a good book just out on this position, The Gatekeepers: How the Chief of Staff Define Every Presidency by Chris Whipple. I am about a quarter of the way through the book. Your public library should have copies.

From Amazon:

The first in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the White House Chiefs of Staff, whose actions—and inactions—have defined the course of our country.

What do Dick Cheney and Rahm Emanuel have in common? Aside from polarizing personalities, both served as chief of staff to the president of the United States—as did Donald Rumsfeld, Leon Panetta, and a relative handful of others. The chiefs of staff, often referred to as "the gatekeepers," wield tremendous power in Washington and beyond; they decide who is allowed to see the president, negotiate with Congress to push POTUS's agenda, and—most crucially—enjoy unparalleled access to the leader of the free world. Each chief can make or break an administration, and each president reveals himself by the chief he picks.

Through extensive, intimate interviews with all seventeen living chiefs and two former presidents, award-winning journalist and producer Chris Whipple pulls back the curtain on this unique fraternity. In doing so, he revises our understanding of presidential history, showing us how James Baker’s expert managing of the White House, the press, and Capitol Hill paved the way for the Reagan Revolution—and, conversely, how Watergate, the Iraq War, and even the bungled Obamacare rollout might have been prevented by a more effective chief.

Filled with shrewd analysis and never-before-reported details, The Gatekeepers offers an essential portrait of the toughest job in Washington.

The market realizes that the corporate tax cut will not happen before August. Tax bills are difficult to pass. The market is okay and the only place to go for income as the banks do not pay anything. A lot of rich Democrats are getting even richer from this rally since the election.

I think that it is difficult for Democrats to accept that the greatness of Obama is gone and that the GOP will never measure up to the greatness of Obama and that personnel changes in the Trump administration will never really please the Democrats. The Democrats know what is going on in the Trump administration because they are using "wire-tapping" do listen to Trump and his team.

I have no idea how you reply has anything to do with the stock market going up or down. Can you enlighten us on that? Thanks.

We are getting a bounce today. I thought we would. Now it will be most interesting to see if it can get back to 28,850 forming a double top. It will be worrisome if it gets to 28,800 and turns south again.

IntheLight, short sellers do not make money in an up market. I expect you know that already. On the other hand there are always companies whose stock is going south, even in a bull market and short sellers do make money on those stock.

Oh, well you said that the problem with Trump was that he had a bad chief of staff so since you said that I assume you meant it to deal with the stock market issues in your thread, or did you mean it as an aside? If it was an aside, so was my reply. Re-read your own post, which I quoted in its entirety, and you will see that you mentioned the stock market and then Priebus.

I was merely pointing out that Priebus is not the only person that Democrats dislike in the Trump administration--Democrats dislike all of Trump's staff. I attribute this dislike to the vacuum left by the exit after eight years of the great Obama.

Maybe you will explain why the book that you were reading about chief of staffs that you mentioned applied to the stock market, huh? Naw, I would have a heart attack, wouldn't I? A golfer should know what is par for the course, right, Crabtown? Are you going to recognize that I deserve a KBM?

Actually Democrats dislike Trump because of an edict to do so coming down out of The Ministry of Truth upon pain of excommunication.

The market is figuring out that the Rinos are going to be Rinos. They have no desire to change anything, they just want their voters to think they want change. They hate Trump because he is putting them on the spot and on the record. I wish they had been half as good at obstructing Obama as they are at obstructing Trump.

That's funny!

The great Obama left only decay and memories of his multitudinous over-priced luxury vacations.
