I have a question about something I, personally, see as 'one-sided'.

Am I off base for becoming less than impressed when someone opens a thread, and then when several disagree with the premise, proceed to ask the Moderators to close the thread? This in no way faults the Moderators, for that is a practice on the BB. Whether or not it is a "rule", I do not know.

I have seen this closing invoked under these circumstances in at least four threads.

Or do some of these posters just want to go for the old "My Way, or the Highway!" approach?

Usually---when the OP requests that the thread be closed---the Mods oblige

In this case---we were more than happy to do so

And I praise God for the moderators here... I remember one time, not too long ago, I made a fool of myself on a thread that I started...

(Can you believe that... Me.... making a fool out of myself?)
YOU DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER IF YOU DON'T WANT TO!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I thank God that that thread was closed via my request... and buried.

PS... This is what I learned that night:....

Don't ever, and I mean ever, start a thread when you are tired and aggravated!
You will say things that while they sound right in your head, after they reach your fingers are all twisted!!!

    Thank you moderators... :flower:

The thread was a sorrowful display of racism based on stereotypes, and attempts to be justified for such thinking by claiming to know a few blacks, along with references to some written works or words from a few black folks.

    Crazy.

While this thread you are, I believe, referring to was one of the threads I was referring to, indirectly, it was not the only one, nor the only 'subject', by any stretch.

And I have certainly no objection to the Moderators exercising the perogatives, and closing ridiculous, redundant, argumentative, biased, bigoted, and/or otherwise objectionable threads, and even have several times appealed that some threads be closed, or at least looked at by the Mods, in the past.

The Mods usually do a very good and extremely thankless job, IMO.

But I am annoyed by some of what I consider "cut and run" tactics by some posters, on occasion, and that is what I was referring to. I find this "cut and run' even more annoying than the so-called "Drive-by" posters we encounter every so often. If you are going to post in a debate forum, expect it to be scrutinized, analyzed, and often refuted, or at least contested by the rest of us, here. The poster, in these cases, is the one who "led with the chin". Don't act surprised and/or 'hurt' when someone takes a swing, and connects.

I hate the cut and run posters who not only asked for threads to be closed but then send PM's bragging that you cannot prove your point because threads have been closed.

I am sure thankful for the mods, though! They do a wonderful and often difficult job. :love2:

    Often one sided?

I don't know where I heard it and it's a little too wise for it to have come from my grey matter, and more often than not I do not remember it when I should....(if I even get it down half way right to make any sense!)........

When I think something then I am answerable to God....
When I say something then most generally I am answerable to that person and God.....
But, when I write something then the whole world is my critic.

Now I think I'll cut and run.

I asked for that thread to be closed long before it actually was.

    It violated Rule #2.

I like your analysis of a part of my own problem! One of the best things about these Forums is a provision to "Preview" what we have written!!
I often note that, upon reading what I am about to post, my most important point comes across saying the opposite of what I intend!!!

I have tried to analyze why I don't say exactly what I mean at times.
If anyone else has this problem and can help explain my ineptness at
exact expression, I will appreciate your reply. I know one cause is not
finding the right dictionary "word" and it makes me feel inadequate.

But then, I keep trying to say exactly what I mean.

Ed I did not asked to close a thread because I felt I've lost a debate, far from it. I and others proved the point...just by the opposition by a few, it was proven. I asked why are whites called racist Which I was CALLED being, for even bringing this up, which proved my point. But Blacks are never through media called racist for harming or verbally attacking whites.

I asked the thread to be closed because we are beating a dead horse. And the fact that most original posters were not posting on the subject showed me I wasn't the only who sees what goes on, in the real world.

I violated no rules if I had it would have been brought to my attention. Like I said liberals can't admit when they are wrong, and attack the messenger instead of the message, especially when they can't defend their view.

Here is my answer to Helens question which got lost.

I am in total agreement with you. Which is my point all along...along with the authors I mentioned. We are saying we are ALL Americans so act like it. Why do blacks have special days, special schools, all kinds of things? heck in the 90's they wanted a special language EBONICS. Why is it such a big deal for whites to adopt black children, they say because they will not know their culture and heritage. Not so for the Asians or other races. Nor do other races demand special rights or blame. Why can't they just act American? Why do they get the lable AFRICAN AMERICAN (which most true Africans are offended by) I don't get the lable Europian Amercian...I'm White. If we tried doing half the stuff they get away with we would be labled RACIST.

We are not allowed to preach white politics or politics at all in churches but that is just about all they do. I know I have friends in them and have visited.

All I am saying there is a double standard in America which in itself CREATES RACISM.

Phillipians this thread isn't even about the other thread you started. Let it go. I in NO WAY AGREE with you, but debating the same thing on every unrelated thread is not the answer. Believe what you want. I don't care. If you think people agree with you so be it.

At any rate take it to the politics thread where a "victimization" thread is open, and be respectful of the topic of the OP.

I have nothing else to say it has all been said. I am enjoying reading all the pm's sent to me by people who agree yet are to afraid to say so. If nothing else, for those who don't already know the truth are now made more aware of what really goes on.
Got to be politically correct in this country, right?

    Ed asked:
This question was legitimate and being discussed in a civil manner.
Often a thread gets closed when it gets derailed. That is, when a poster (often a troll), comes in and purposely brings in his or her baggage and takes the thread off of its original topic.

Phil.1:21 was warmed by "I am Blessed"
    And Phi.1:21 replied:
Since the thread now has been sufficiently derailed, I feel obligated to close it.
