present the best case for believing what it is that makes you a Primitive Baptist and not something else?

Here is what I am getting at, your view of the church is not exclusive to primitives. Neither is preterist, amillenialism, or postmillenialism. Belief in election is not exclusive either.

Please address the following issues and keep it at that. I am sincerely looking for answers. Every time I challenge a particular theology of primitive, I just get the run around.

    1. Why no missionaries in the way that most people understand that term today?

    2. Why the belief that some people will be redeemed and enjoy the glory of God without ever believing in Christ?

    3. Why do primitives tend to be antischooling and official study but will gladly give an article that one of the "elders" wrote?

I will study your questions and get back with you. On #3, could you explain what you mean about giving something that an Elder has written? I don't quite understand what you're getting at with that.

He is baiting you for a fight. Please, Leave it alone. He knows what we believe already and makes snide comments about us at every turn.

Agree with Brother Jeff... He knows where we stand on all these points and just doesn't agree with how we interpret scripture!... Brother Glen Of The Primitive Baptist Brethren [IMG]

I for one don't know much about primitive baptists. All I know is that the congregations around here only meet once a month and they are calvinistic. So could you answer the questions for me. I would like to know if it is true teaching and if so, where is the Biblical basis?

    Narrow Road

The best places to read about what we believe are at the The Primitive Baptist Web Station or at Primitive Baptist History Online Additionally here is a link in the BB History Forum in which PB's are discussed: http://www.baptistboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=25;t=000155

Peruse them, and ask away for anything you dont understand.

Where in NC are you? I have relatives in Northwest NC, went to college in NC and lived there for awhile myself.

    Jeff.

    Edited to add additional link.

I for one would be interested in their answers. They are sincere questions.

Peter said to be ready with the answer. Don't hide behind pious attitudes that are merely escape tactics.

I am sure other Baptists would be interested in what you have to say.

As far as the "elders" question is concerned, I have noticed how frequently the PBs on this board will give a sermon by one of their "elders". On the flip side though, they tend to be anti-schooling.

Now passing by the three questions and addressing the stated intent in the first 2 paragraphs, I don't think it is hardly possible to find any one group of Baptists that have something that is exclusive to them and that no other Baptists have. Therefore it is the whole and not the parts that make this group a distinct body - just like any other Baptist body.

Maybe they do. I don't know. That is why the question is there. If they don't want to learn from men and only God, why do they emphasize these "elders" so much?

I probably will regret this post, but...

I will not debate with you. When you can ask questions without being snide (the title of this thread is offensive and the way you phrased the question is offensive as well.) I might consider it. Every Primitive Baptist that I am aware of posting on this board is exceptionally polite, or at least try to be. When you can debate in a civil manner, we can try again.

In the interest of the Board and with respect to the Primitive Baptist Brethren, I am closing this thread.

There are sufficient web sites noted to give everything that is to be known about Primitive Baptists.

    Cheers, and God bless,
