If we look at 1 Corinthians 9:19, the NASB renders it thus:
For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more.

Most of the translations either say "win" or "gain" with the NLT having "bring many to Christ."

Clearly, if we are involved in the salvation of others, we benefit in some way. We gain a sibling in Christ, and to some degree a possible greeting from Christ - welcome home, faithful servant. Paul speaks of entering heaven "abundantly."

So our actions to prepare the soil, to plant the seed, and to water (nourish) comprise our ministry for Christ, but it is God alone who causes the increase (saves or not those we endeavor to bring to Christ.)

How do we "make straight the way of the Lord" or "prepare the way of the Lord?"

The Bible speaks of our three enemies, Satan, the World, and our fleshly Desires. All the fallen are ensnared in some fashion by all three of these. How do we persuade folks to turn from these traps to God and His Christ? Do we say, it is impossible to reach them because men claim they have no spiritual ability, or do we say some have the limited spiritual ability to be entering heaven because of Matthew 23:13? Do we accurately handle the word of truth, or close our eyes in the company of mistaken men?

    Amazing!

Posted as a true Calvinist would post.

Oh, my, you haven’t changed your thinking have you?

    :)

Actually, I do approve (not that you need or desire it) of what you wrote.

Your statement above is fully verifiable with Scripture.
