    So we should not base our action on facts but on emotion?

    And will more gun control laws ease their pain or bring back their loved ones?

    I have shown that not to be the case.

    So if the present gun control laws did not stop the killing what laws do you propose that will do so?

    Concealed carry is licensed in some states. Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Vermont and Wyoming are constitutional carry states. No license required.

    We are hoping to add Texas to that list next session of the Texas State Legislature. As we have a part-time legislature which only meets every other year we will not be able to take the issue up until the 2017 session.

    But you did give your opinion here:

    That you thought the bystander was "unstable" and that her license to carry should be revoked, along with contending that there is a increasing consensus for firearm restrictions. My point was not that you are in the UK but that you being in the UK, you may just get your news from The Guardian and only the American left is pushing for gun control here. They will fail, again.

    But my real problem was with the original article because it looks like that is not what happened at all in this incident.

    You did make one statement that is patently false. You said,
    That is simply not true. The FBI reports 6 mass shootings in 2014. So far in 2015 there have been 5.

    And in case you were not aware of it, Police Officers killed more people in this country in 2014 than all the mass shootings combined.

    I have the site where I received this information if necessary I will supply. Everyone has an opinion and I respect everyone's feelings about gun laws. Again some individuals should not be allowed to legally carry or own a firearm and the number of individuals that should be denied this right is growing.

    Why would she get involved like that? That's crazy. Now she's the one in trouble and not the shoplifter. If she hadn't have fired, but had tried to stop the shoplifter by just threatening them, she may have been regarded as a hero, but the fact that she fired her weapon in the open public like that has now just put her freedom in jeopardy. People need to think before they act.

    My opinion was that the lady in questions license to carry should be revoked. Would you pull your gun in the middle of the street and start firing at a moving vehicle?

    And are there not more people wanting gun laws debated? That doesn't necessarily mean more people want the right to own or carry revoked, I'm talking about how more people want the discussion to be had in trying to find a compromise, if there is one.

    A lot of the media are talking about it, the politicians are talking about it, Obama is talking about it, even we are talking about it.

    As for reading the guardian? You really don't know me at all...

    This number includes people shot, not just people killed. The term is "mass shooting" not "mass murder". We don't need statistics to show that we have a problem. Mass shootings are occurring more frequently and sadly the assailants are using firearms that were legally purchased. You can google "how many mass shooting in 2015" and you will get a list of websites displaying the information.
