    Yet another post by someone who seems not to know how to even do a word study. Here the goals of transparency and concordance are indicated as not worth pursuing, a view not shared with many translators.

    Now to return to the actual topic, G2673 - katargeo, I provided three differing shades of meaning. But based on context, severing or rendering inactive covers the whole gamut.

    Van has won the Convoluted Grammar Award for his memorable phraseology. Some classic samples follow:

    "Why does it render inactive the ground?"

    "The brightness of His face was being rendered inactive."

    Sometimes a fresh or unfamiliar phrase will cause us to stop and ponder and see something in a new light. Btw, God's choice of phraseology, might be considered "convoluted" by some.
