It is not going to be pretty and we here in the US have not managed the purity of our water very well. Shortages are already showing up and trouble brewing in various parts of the world. Some believe the next big war will be over water, not oil. When I was working in China in 1995 there was reported fights over water between villages in Shaanxi province. People become upset very quickly when the water runs low.

I agree.

We need a revolution in desalinization technologies. It will help the world and bring about a new era of peacefulness and prosperity.

The lack of a sufficient water supply is a peril too much of our world faces, even though so much of it lies within their grasp. Maybe we're too attached to making a buck off people in need.

Shortages of clean drinking water or agricultural irrigation water are nothing new. Even the Romans built aqueducts. Like shortages of food or housing or space it is not the worldwide supply that is the problem, but the failure to get the needed asset to the people that need it and it is the greed of men that keeps it that way.

It is the modern water purification systems that have enabled us to have 7 billion people to start with. Over 100 years ago you could never have a city of 10 million people, they would all die of disease in their own sewers. The fact many people want to ignore is that the population of the world is a self adjusting number. If we get too many people, sickness, starvation, war, and other things will cut it down. When we make new discoveries and learn to provide more food, water and housing, like we have in this industrial age, then we allow that population to grow.

As far as innovation in desalination, it will come, when the need it great enough and someone can make money off of it. That is the plus side of greed.

For anyone interested in thinking with their heads, instead of their hearts, they may want to learn the facts. It is not a crisis of supply, but infrastructure. Corruption and mismanagement are to blame. And since corruption is a leftist ideal, and facts are like kryptonite to them, the problem will only be solved, according to them, by soaking what they deem as "the rich".

Well you are not alone feeling that way today, but if you come to know Him you know that is not true. I will pray for you. Remember Jesus loves you. God does take care of His own but there is no promise that bad things will not happen. I need to tell you up front so you are not disillusioned that even if a person gets saved they can get killed on car wrecks, they can still drown and they can still have many bad things happen to them, but they also have a promise to be with Him in the end. So look to the Lord as He loves you even if you do not trust Him now.

Those who could AFFORD the machines would do fine but in drought condition the poor people down wind would die? The Republican solution? Social Darwinism?

First because of the costs. Food prices would have to rise 1000 percent to pay for the electricity to pay for running those machines. Also if you read about them they are not very good below 50% humidity. Even though that particular manufacturer claims they work as low a 30% humidity I can assure you they put out very little water at that level and in many areas would not work at all because of the humidity levels. So they are in fact impractical for farming. They can help for drinking water, but that is a different story.
