This poll is meant to create thought about what we believe concerning sin and the forgiveness of God. There are 4 questions you need to take poll to view results. Thanks for your time.

I could not word question 3 like I wanted because of template restrictions so here is question three.

You are a believer, saved by grace through faith but you are also a human being who has temptations like any other person. On a beautiful day somewhere in the future you are blindsided, fall or give into temptation and during the act of committing that sin the Lord returns or you die. Will go to heaven?

number 3 was a tough one.

only God knows the heart of man. it depends on where the persons heart is at.

if the person has fallen into temptation unwillingly. then i dont know.

i really dont know for 3. the rest i answered. of course... oh that was pointless to say. duh! im tired...

Why is no. 3 hard? Either all your sins are forgiven or not. I believe a saved person could commit suicide and would still go to heaven, because they are forgiven.

    The classical example (IMO) is:
If you are a Christian [believer] and one day you are hammering nails and you hit your thumb and yell a profanity, then immediately a bolt of lightning strikes you dead, are you still going to heaven?

I think the answer is Yes. Christians DO commit sins, and I don't think salvation depends on fortunate or unfortunate timing.

    Gekko,

That sounds a lot like salvation by being perfect, not salvation by grace.

I agree with Marcia, we're either covered by the blood of Christ or we aren't, if you beleive in grace, unmerited, unearned favor with God, bought by Christ;s sacrifice, then theres no chance of going anywhere but heaven. It's not about me, it's about Him.

gekko, the whole idea of salvation is that we do NOT have to pay for our sin. God is the judge, and we were found guilty. Jesus paid the penalty for us.

    I agree with Marcia!

NO ONE goes to hell because of sin. Jesus tasted death for all (Hebrews 2). All sin was ATONED for, or paid for on the cross.

People go to hell for refusing to believe, either in the promise of God regarding a Messiah or the historical fact of Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior (depending on which side of the cross you are on historically). Jesus is the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8), so there is no man whose sin has sent him to hell.

It is a matter of belief or unbelief -- John 3:16-18 etc. -- understanding that, biblically, 'belief' is not simple intellectual acknowledgement, but rather the total casting of oneself upon God and the giving up of one's own abilities regarding one's eternal destination or way of living now.

Sin will not send a person to hell?

    Belief = Faith

Whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Sin will send a man to hell.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

never said we had to pay for our sin... did i.

what is required of us for God to give us grace?
    you people say nothing.

so i could be a whoremonger, murderer, liar and what not, and still recieve God's grace?

no. God resisteth the proud, giveth grace to the humble.

God will not withhold any good from them that walk uprightly.

we are saved by grace. no doubt about that. but there are things that need to be in our life for us to have grace.

grace is a free gift... to those who walk uprightly. to those who are humble. to those who are reptenant towards God. don't make sense?

James 4, psalms 84:11... some others i can't remember this early in the morning...

i believe we're either covered by the blood of Christ or we aint. there's no grey area.

but the bible clearly states that God will withhold grace from us if we do not walk uprightly, if we are not humble, and if we do not have a repentant heart...

its the holy spirit through us helping us to do those things, nothing of our own.

one cannot live an unrighteous life, then accept Christ and his "unmerited grace", and still live an unrighteous life. no. God will not give grace to the unrighteous... otherwise everyone will go to heaven.

i agree. Jesus did pay the penalty for us. paid the fine. now, read this anecdote:

you see someone holding up a $20 bill and offering it to you. and you think in your head that that money is yours - is it truly yours? or do you have to take action and go and get the $20 bill?
