That is why we cannot say light has been constant forever, or anything else for that manner!

Persistent points of confusion in Creation discussions:

Foremost, believing in an old earth does NOT equal theistic evolution.

And many seem to believe that verse 3 of Genesis 1 = "In the beginning..." (which it clearly does not in the text)

We always start with the science, never with the Text. In The Beginning

"Seems" and facts regarding most Christians with an old earth view are at odds. Prime example is Hugh Ross who is often slandered as an 'evolutionist' by Christians who have never read him. He disputes evolution. https://reasons.org/

The scriptures are the filter we used to pour science thru, not trying to have the Bible support science, as scriptures have the final say on this matter!

I don't know Hugh Ross and personally I have little problem with a Christian of theistic evolution beliefs as they give God the glory.

Evens those who see Man as being evolved off a common ape ancestor?
Who want to turn Genesis into one big myth/metaphor?

Yes that is a problem but go back and read my post - do they give God His glory?
I do not believe this holds one back from salvation by grace through faith in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ God come in the flesh.

Whatever the truth (and I am a convinced YEC) God is their judge in this matter.

    6 billion years
    6 million years
    6 thousand years
    6 days
    6 seconds

All are possibilities, I choose 6 solar days of creation and one eternal day of His rest (Jesus Christ Himself being the Sabbath rest).

Being a theistic evolutionists indeed does not make any difference in the eternal state of someone, but would just suggest that it would make for at times some defective theology!

    Yes, I agree.

Evolution - requires death - but death requires sin.

Yes, for there was no death in Eden until the fall happened!

correct. It is a serious hindrance to theistic evolution but is ignored by its followers.

Nevertheless there seems to be many followers who are Christian indeed.

You believe everything you read in Scientific American - or just this article headline?

"The other photon went through a pair of devices that manipulated the structure of the light and then switched it back."

First scientist's don't send a single photon through a fiber optic. Shows the complete lack of understanding by the author. And once again this is talking about light speeds in matter. And guess what? Light is slower - not faster in matter.

Does anyone read anything but the headlines? The articles discounts the headline in the article.

Could you'all stop acting like the people who think gender is what people say they are and not what junk they have down there?

The maximum speed of light is constant. Find another way explain creation. It's not that hard. God could have created the light and not just sat there to wait for it to arrive. He could have had the stars and solar system in place before the creation story. He could have used the expansion of space to allow the stars to send their light before they expanded too far away (A bit of a stretch - pardon the pun).

But this belief that c changes is ludicrous and it is also easily measured. You can measure the speed of light yourself. Shouldn't take more than few hundred dollars to measure it accurately. You can also measure E=mc^2. A few hundred dollars of chemistry equipment for that to be measured accurately as well.

This is not like Evolution or Climatology where a bunch of scientists you never meet tell you things you have to take on faith because they can't really prove anything.

You'all keep wanting c to change to a value over a million times greater so that your explanation for the creation story is correct. If it changed even 10%, much less than a million times, everything would be instantly dead.

It would make better sense if you'all just said that God suspended reality while he was creating the universe.

Or that God created the Universe recently, but made it to have built in age factor, and that the law of Physics as we now know them were not in existence yet until He created them!

YEC was the standard model for all orthodox Christianity up until the 1800s. There is no real Biblical basis for old Earth, animal precursors to humans, millions of yrs of death. None of it. It all depends on authority. Is it the Bible or pagan creation myths involving mystery ape/human common ancestors. Did the common ancestor have a tail, have canine teeth, walk on all fours, go into heat like chimps and unlike humans? None of it can be fact checked against what actually happened.

This does not sound correct. It is my understanding that the Catholic and Orthodox Churches do not have a doctrinal position on the age of the universe or of the earth, because there was never doctrinal consensus on it, nor any need for that.
