he federal government is forcing 3 million Americans to disclose sensitive, personal information about finances, health and lifestyle in a 14-page survey – including questions about availability of household flush toilets and difficulty with undressing and bathing..........

.................While many recipients may consider the questionnaire to be tedious and meddling, the Census Bureau warns that citizens are required by law to complete it and may be fined as much as $5,000 for willfully refusing. While an individual may feel uneasy about answering each question truthfully, the fine for filing false information can be as much as $500

I did that in the Air Force when I applied for a Secret clearance in order to handle such documents. They wanted my whole life history--including every home I had lived in, and we moved a LOT when I was growing up. They wanted my ancestry info back to my grandparents, and a lot of info I could only get from my parents. I couldn't understand the reason for wanting some of the info. I still have a copy of it in case I ever need it again.

One thing I've learned is that the government can do pretty much whatever they want, and all we can do is complain--fruitlessly.

The article didn't say who had to do the survey. Is it random? How to they propose to "force" anyone to fill it out? If they call, one can always hang up, and they can't make you answer the phone or return mail, right?

I've made up my mind not to answer beyond how many live at this address. As far as I'm concerned.... they already have the other information on file in one place or another.... so I intend on putting 'already on file' on the questions.....

As for race.... I have finally come to the conclusion that the correct answer is 'human' race...... and any other answer is a cultural issue and has no business on the census.

The constitution says the census is to be conducted every 10 years.... for the purpose of determining allocation of representation. I'm not really sure that it is so specific as to make any part of it my responsibility as it is the government's job to do the counting.... unless I'm hired and work for the government to assist in that job.

Now when I get fined and hauled off to court..... you who may sit on the jury..... remember.... you have as much right to judge the law as being unjust..... or unjustly interpreted or applied..... as you have the right to judge the evidence.
