    The problem with this argument [some folks that have opposed the drug cartels are fleeing for their lives. In cases where returning them home likely means certain death, they should cross our border (illegally if need be) and be able to immediately turn themselves in, find sanctuary, and be placed in legal refugee status] is: many will claim to be fleeing for their life and request sanctuary!

    That is all well and good...

    ...and we know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, as well as traveled by many who are practicing love and good intentions! STILL, if they are taught to obey the laws of the land they live in, a civic minded church would direct these folks to return to the end of the line. Apply from within their native country. And become legal not by hostile takeover, but by the laws of the country they wish to be part of!
