ANSWER THE QUESTION, or stop teaching OSAS.

Why is it dreadful to fall into the hands of the living God when He judges you?

It's only dreadful for the unsaved.

    From Albert Barnes Commentary:
"The idea here is, that to fall into the hands of the Lord, after having despised his mercy and rejected his salvation, would be terrific; and the fear of this should deter from the commission of the dreadful crime."

There is another interpretation that no one has considered. Hebrews 10:1-4 deals with the sacrifices in general. Hebrews 10:5-18 deals with the antitype of the day of atonement sacrifice in specific as Christ fulfilling it.

However, there is a transition to SERVICE and daily sanctification in Hebrews 10:19. The Law also required a DAILY SACRIFICE that tpyified the daily walk of believers.

John 13 deals with both of these aspects in cleansing. Jesus told Peter that he had already been washed in regard to a whole body washing (Heb. 10:5-18) but he only needed to now cleanse his hands and feet (Heb. 10:19-31).

Hebrews 10:26-30 deals with willful sin. The daily sacrifice was accepted as a symbol of true repentance but God would reject it if there were no true repentance but willful sin. To offer up this sacrifice with an unrepentant heart was to tread underneath your feet the truths of the sacrifical death of Christ and do despite to the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament willful sin or presumptuous sin was dealt with physical death under the law of Moses as in the case of Sabbath breaker.

However, there are things more severe than suffering physical death. For example, David sinned openly and willfully and went without repentance for at least nine months until the baby by Bathsheba had been born. The penalty of his sins was not death as he was spared from that, but far worse, that the sword would not leave his house. He would have gladly died himself than to go through what he endured by the death and rebellion of his own children as a consequence of his willful and presumptuous sin with Uriah and Bathsheba. David could testify it is a "fearful thing to fall INTO the hands of an Angry God." He did not fall OUT of His hands.
