    Yes, the timing is suspicious.
However, the date and location of the event correlates to what Marsha Stevens wrote, as illustrated in this church newsletter.

    LINK

And unfortunately, the picture on Marsha's web site is definitely showing Mark Lowry, Bill Gaither, Marsha and her "spouse." She has their wedding pics on the site too -- same four people for sure.

I am a Gaither fan, so I obviously don't want this to be true.

PJ, no one questions the fact that the 2002 concert happenned (they have concerts all the time, all over the place). What is in question is the details in the OP, which, at this point, are in the realm of rumor and gossip.

    Ya think?

I, personally, don't intend to believe the dialogue until it's confirmed through the horses mouth. As I stated earlier, anyone can get their picture taken with Mark Lowry and Bill Gaither.

I want to thank everyone who posted on this thread concerning the Way of Life website. I went and spent about an hour reading their material, and in that short time I found them to be scripturally sound, so I subscribed to their e-mail newsletter. I also found a lot of the Pastors that I fellowship with are already on their Church locator. It looks like a great site that sticks to the "old time" Truth of the King James Bible and the Fundamental Independent Baptist tradition. Thanks again for pointing out what appears to be a great site that I was previously unaware of.

    Pastor Mark.

I too, am a Bill Gaither fan and have been for many years. When I saw this posting, I went to Marsha Stevens' website and read the story that she herself wrote regarding the evening at the Gaither concert. She declares and puts into quotations marks, the conversation she had with Mark Lowery. Her story matches the story we are reading here. I love the Gaithers music but I cannot condone what God does not condone. To do so would be an injustice to the person who feels that it is OK to pick amd choose which part of God's Righteous Word to obey and which ones they will not. I would also have to answer to God for not doing what is right in admonishing a brother or sister in a loving way. I too, shall wait to hear what the final answer to this is, but if it proves true, I can no longer support Gaither's ministry.

That's because the story we are reading here apparantly got it from the same place. Again, it's rumor. Christians are expressly forbidden from engaging in rumor.

Okay, after reading through the thread, but not the BALM website, what I would like to see is something from a Gaither website that confirms his/thier "support". Then this topic can move out of the realm of fantasy/gossip to something resembling the truth.

I can go to a concert and have a wonderful conversation with the performers and post it on a website, but that doesn't mean they remember me the next day.

Performers on the scale of the Gaithers meet more people in one day than some of us will meet our entire lives. You really can't expect a conversation to infer "support" for a particular lifestyle.

AMAN To that! </font>[/QUOTE]Actually DeclareHim , you may be totally mistaken, here:

    Personally, I'd recommend that everyone
"except anything on wayoflife to be truth without other credible sources." And if one is going to make comments, do the same with me, or any other source. If I were to have a web site, and made any personal implications, do exactly what I've said- "EXCEPT" it, for it is here so far, - an unsubstianted allegation. Should there be one or two more sources, that are, in fact, substantive, then, and only then, is it proper to "ACCEPT" something. For now, the Biblical admonition of two or three "witnesses" has been met.

    atestring, you said AMAN.
    IS AWOMAN OK, as well?
    Signed,

Folks, I have to apologize for my alter-ego, 'LC'. He has this 'thing' about improper language, which sometimes comes to the surface. Unfortunately, he got up with a sore throat this AM, and is in an irritating mood.
    In His grace,
    Ed

The Gay lady wrote the song before she became gay or before she came out of the closet. Either way it doesn't matter because she is gay now. She is also very open about it. She is unrepentful of her lifestyle and she is even blatently rebellious towards what the Bible teaches concerning her lifestyle choice.
Gaither did have her come on stage during the singing of her song back in 2002. Now whether or not he supports her lifestyle may be left up for grabs. But the fact that he allowed her "face" time during one of his homecomings says a whole lot to me.
If Gaither really wanted to be a influence he should speak out against this perverted woman and her ministry. He could do alot to put the clamps down on her ministry. Yet she is free to spread her filth around the country because we as christians hide behind a misunderstanding of what it means to "judge not".
Gaither in the last ten years has really went showtime more than ever. I used to be grateful for his preservation of good S.gospel music. But now he has turned it into a gigantic money makeing thing.
BTW,David Cloud has been late getting in on this story. It has been posted on several other sites way before he got a hold of it. I have noticed he is late on alot of news items he comments on.
There have been others who have made remarks concerning this.
I don't agree with alot of David Cloud's thinking on certain issues like KJVO etc... Yet he does have some good resource material on alot of things. One being the Roman Catholic Church.
Cloud is not a Ruckmanite. He doesnt believe that the KJV is inspired etc... He believes that the texts that back it up are the better texts.
I'm not saying I'm on board with him on that issue. I'm just saying if you do a little reading from all the KJVO advocates he is not a crackpot like alot of them. Even his critics will own up to that.

I sent an e-mail to both the Gaither and Lowry websites asking Bill and Mark to respond to Marsha Stevens' allegations concerning the event. I will post any reply(s) I receive back here.

When I was growing up at the start of the "Jesus Movement", I remember the song and it was a part of my growth experience.

Don't know Stevens. I have problems with the concept of "gay Christians".

    This is Not New News!

I've known for several years that Marsha is a lesbian.

I knew Marsha when she and I attended the same church in San Dimas [where here mom was the choir director]. I knew her when she sang with the "Children of the Day!" I knew her when her an d Russ Strevens married and had children, and their group did several concerts for my churches.

I also know that her song "For Those Tears I Died" came out of her near overdose and brush with death.

I was sad when I read the she left Russ for another woman, and from that day, on, I've held her up in prayer, to see the evil and deception she has given into.

I also knew she and her lover were beginning to do concerts for Jesus, and when I heard this, I rebuked the thought, and still pray that God set her straight [no pun intended], however, like my daughter, I believe Marsha is locked into the deception of those who are teaching you can be born-again and live the gay lifestyle!

This is another sign of times, and it is sad that Gaither has fallen into this lie [if he, in fact, has], because he carries a lot of weight in the SGM genre.

We know that God is turning gays over to their foolishness, and allowing them to live in sin. I think this is one more sign of the times.

We need to seek the lost, and allow the Holy Ghost to deal with the deceived. These folks are radical, and won't listen to reason. I know this to be true, because I have a lesbian daughter, and family [who insist they are going to heaven] who support her and put me down for being judgmental and critical, and a fanatic when it comes to the Bible, and the lie's people are following.

    Selah!

    Shalom!

God declares that sodomites are an abomination, and assures us that all workers of abomination will have their part in the lake of fire and brimstone.

Those who think they can live a sodomite lifestyle and still go to heaven are only fooling themselves.

God is not a liar. The only way these sodomites will make it to God's eternal kingdom is if they trust Christ and abandon their wickedness.

Ezekiel 18:30 (KJV) Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

Now, I know this verse was to Israel. But I also know that the child of God does not continue a sinful lifestyle.

Paul, I pray your daughter turns from her wickedness.

    Thanks Fred....

....than means a lot. Although, from what I see, at this time, she would rather die than admit it is a sin! :tear::tear::tear:
