U.S. to Expand Immigration Checks to All Local Jails

    +1 More "locking the barn door after the horse gets out" government nonsense. The Demo's aren't going to give up their voters that easily.

    "Law abiding" seems to be pretty flexibel here.

    All you have to do is ignore...

    Illegally entering the country
    Driving without a license
    Driving without insurance
    Working illegally
    Presenting a fake social security number

    And so on.

    So, should they check people who are arrested by fingerprinting them or not? Do you approve of this additional step expanding what Bush started?

    If they don't have a SSN or green card- export them. No need for fingerprints.

    But who carries their Social Security card with them?

    Do we want to to a State or Commonwealth / Federal ID card which must always be carried with you?

    Anything that will decrease the number of illegal aliens in the U.S. is welcome news to me. I'm not saying this incentive accomplish this, but if it does, good!

    I believe its a step in the right direction. The instant a person comes across the border illegally, they have broken the law. They need to crack down on ALL illegal aliens who hop across our border. Round them up & send them back home.

    Well, the past few jobs I have had I have had to show my SS Card to get the job. Of course those can be counterfeited...!

    True, but I only leave home (unlike my American Express ) with my SS card when I specifically need it - job, open a bank account, impress a girl...
    otherwise I keep it locked up in my office

    If they are not in jail there is no fingerprints.

    Would you approve of random finger print checks on the street, in grocery stores, etc.? Of course this would mean you might be checked also and get ink on your fingers. :laugh: or do can it be done digitally now?

    You have to identify them before you can deport them. So, are you in favor of random finger print checks?

    All you have to do is call the INS to conduct an investigation. Most illegals will run at the sight or the thought of the INS coming to their location.

    My guess is that everyone that is arrested is fingerprinted.

    What this program is talking about is comparing fingerprints against a database.

    Yes, I am in favor of this.

    I am still left wondering if there are illegal immigrants that are not "deportable".

    It's a rethorical question.

    It's common knowledge that law enforcement allows illegal immigrants to walk with regularity.

    I find that a careful reading of articles like this often reveals more than the author intends.
