    Democrats Are Fast-Tracking Nearly 1,000-Page 'Cap-and-Trade' Bill That Would Increase Electricity Bills

    CNSNews.com) – Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee put their cap and trade global warming bill--that would increase U.S. energy prices, including electricity bills--on the fast track Monday. Republicans, meanwhile, are complaining that the expedited process is designed to avoid well-informed public debate about what the bill will do and its consequences for American consumers.

    Spearheaded by committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), Democrats hope to have a vote on the nearly 1,000 page bill by the end of the week, despite the fact that they only released a draft copy of the bill Friday--a day when many members of Congress had already left the Capitol.

    Uh oh. Somebody is going to be in trouble. The memo said that they were supposed to raise the electric rates AFTER they forced us into electric cars.

    It's getting so I hate to watch or read the news any more. I'm afraid the stupidity will infect me somehow.

    According to Fox News, a person's electricity bill would be increased by 90%. An average family, would pay $1,500 more a year.

    If I knew how to do it, I would keep my electricity on, but have it only to charge batteries. The batteries would be hooked up to power inverters. This would keep the electrical costs low. The catch is buying power inverters that can support every household electrical item. Power inverters can be expensive, but you'd save that money on your power bill.

    Even with that, I still think the government would try to find a way to get around that.

    Oh well...I'm sure only the "evil rich" will have to pay full price.

    I've heard that Democrats, "the underprivileged" (read: I got money for cell phones and a nice car...but I need food stamps and can't afford to pay taxes), residents of D.C., and anyone who foregoes the use of toilet paper to save trees will get a discount.

    The more Obama runs his trap, the more convinced I am that he truly hates the idea of individual liberty.

    I knew a guy who did this, costed him as much to charge the batteries.

    And you believed that?

    I'd say you're fairly gullible if you believed this...

    And what is your analysis of the cost to the average household if this is passed?

    Or do you just post pointless prattle?

    The old "free power from power inverters" urban legend lives on :tear: Al a 'power inverter' does is convert AD to DC (or DC TO AC). -- always looses energy in the conversion, transportation, etc.

    The government has already made that idea invalid. It is called PHYSICS.

    Unfortunately, physics (specifically the laws of thermodynamics) says after you pay for the AC (alternating current) from the power company;
    then you have to convert it (the power inverters) to Direct Current (DC) LOOSING PART OF THE POWER;
    then you have to charge a battery
    LOOSING PART OF THE POWER;
    finally you have to battery your household electrical item
    LOOSING PART OF THE POWER.

    You would have been better off using the AC power you paid for (plus taxs, of course).

    1. We know the criteria the GOP used was disputed and declared a misrepresentation by it's author MIT. So according to MIT who did the study, it "would be more along the lines of $31 per person a year, or about $75 for a family. That cost would rise to a high of $510 in 2025, then fall back to $205 by 2050"

    2. The administration is also investing in alternative energies. All of the GOP assertions are banking that no other source of energy will be viable in the near or distant future.

    3. Before you say it, no one ever said we can totally eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels or foreign supplies. The GOP has changed the word REDUCE to mean ELIMINATE which is a deception they think we are too stupid to see.

    You forgot all the power that is dissipated as heat. That alone would make it impracticable.
