"bho" disingenuous about United States and Colonialism

"We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the world - tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate. The relationship between Islam and the West includes centuries of co-existence and cooperation, but also conflict and religious wars. More recently, tension has been fed by colonialism that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims, and a Cold War in which Muslim-majority countries were too often treated as proxies without regard to their own aspirations. Moreover, the sweeping change brought by modernity and globalization led many Muslims to view the West as hostile to the traditions of Islam."

More Here

The United States has never been involved in colonialism!

But then "bho" doesn't know how many states are in the union. It is quite obvious to all, excluding those who bow to the god of the almighty state, that "bho" hates America.

Thank you for starting this thread. This is Lie #1 in his speech. I will close the other thread and continue the conversation over here.

I would like to know when the US colonized muslim countries. I hope his supporters will point out when in documented history this occurred if they plan to defend his lie.

This is the "politics" forum, Ken.

You must have made a mistake. Surely you wouldn't go back on something you said, would you?

With the great speech by our president I figured I was needed and I am correct. People need to read the speech in context and stop making false statements about what President Obama said.

The sentence before that says: "tension between the United States and Muslims around the world - tension rooted in historical forces" so he is referring to the US. He is not referring to the British empire or some other country, the reference is clearly to the history of the US. You can't make any of us believe it was an oversight and that he was not referring to the US. He wouldn't even have had to take a breath between the two sentences. It is a lie.

So now we all know that once again Ken doesn't do what he says and is completely wrong on Obama's speech.

I repeat. The United States has never engaged in colonialism!

Are you denying that the OP is a direct quote from "bho"s speech?

Also Ken we did not participate in the Crusades, just in case you didn't know or are blinded by your adulation of "bho".

What obama should have done is point out how Americans have given their lives, blood, and treasure to help muslims.

Like Somalia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait.

We have not colonized, we have helped to liberate them from.

He doesn't say that. Here is what he said:

"The West" doesn't mean only America. It includes western Europe where historically most of the colonizing powers were located (England, Spain, Portugal, etc.).

A more clearer definition of "The West"---------anything outside of the western window of Islam as it digs its ugly doctrine in the east!!!

Now-------that just about concludes every nation against Islam which is just about correct in the eyes of those who give their souls to its blasphemy!!

Then please tell us what Muslim country has been recently colonized by which western European country.

He should have excluded the United States, but he didn't, he inferred that the United States was included. He has the typical leftist mindset. The United States is always the guilty party.

Then please tell us what Muslim country has been recently colonized by which western European country.

Europeans arrived in Indonesia from the 16th century seeking to monopolise the sources of valuable nutmeg, cloves, and cubeb pepper in Maluku. In 1602 the Dutch established the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and became the dominant European power. Following bankruptcy, the VOC was formally dissolved in 1800, and the government of the Netherlands established the Dutch East Indies as a nationalised colony. By the early 20th century Dutch dominance extended to what was to become Indonesia's current boundaries.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world.
