I watched this episode of Real Time and Maher was on target with some of his criticisms of President Obama.

Actually, Maher makes some excellent points here. The President needs to get a little backbone and do what he was elected to do. This is the time to get his agenda through, not to water it down.

Does Maher really claim to be a libertarian? If so, that's quite an oxymoron, since Maher is a lover and truster of big gov't solutions. That's not libertarian at all.

That's what he calls himself, his political views are hard to define. He's for privatizing Social Security to a point, then he's a big member of PETA, a critic of Christianity, and he supports the death penalty and abortion - he's on the left with a libertarian bent AFAIC, mainly because he's a pothead that wants to legalize zee weed and prostitution.

Of course, that's just a guess that he's a left-leaning liberal that won't vote that way in a national election. Maher has said he voted Clinton in '92, then Dole in '96. then Ralph Nader in 2000, Kerry in '04, Obama in '08, there seems to be no method in the madness.

So Maher turns out to be a racist?

Can't criticize Obama unless you are.

He claims it, but spews the MSDNC talking points to the hilt. In the past he was for profiling to keep us safe from terrorists, but now is against it. He is for enormous govt spending. Where is he libertarian? for legalization of weed and prostitution, as was pointed out. His liberarianism is a label he uses on other people's shows. His content is definitely DNC material squarely in line with the Olbermann/Maddow wing of the party.

I think Jesse Ventura also claims to be Libertarianish, but he too seems to support the big government too. I was watching the interview between him & Sean Hannity a few weeks ago.
