I'm not so sure. The only folks I've personally known who smoked maryjane on a regular basis were a few bricks shy of a load. They were lazy, dependent, and mentally deprived. Was it all the fault of maryjane? I can't say for sure but pothead certainly is a good description of their character and contribution to society.

I dunno about a bigger tent. But it's certainly a higher tent.

If they want credibility they need to drop foolish arguments like this. That said I am against any Federal prohibition.

What I'm against is the double standard of our law and government.

If dope is unlawful....... then that goes for ALL people and it is unlawful for all citizens.... whether a politician, a person in office, an actor at ta party, or the kid on the street. It is also unlawful for creating an underground economy to support covert operations of government agencies or their rougue side kicks to keep their expenses out of congressional scrutiny or budget controls. I'm also against the clandestine type of government support and grants which allowed drug experiementation as a process of research in university laboratories which included students and allows access and distribution on the streets due to lack of controls...... which occurred during the late 50's and the 60's.

If the mafia and unscrupulous factions of our own covert supposedly 'protective/investigative/special-secret forces-agencies had never gotten intertwined..... I doubt that we would have the drug explosion we have today.

If society had been allowed to exercise local controls and peer pressure .... iti is possible that it would have been self limiting, and there might have been less crime associated with drugs and more compassion and personal help for the ones who got hooked.

As for now..... our current drug programs have moved into 'greater sophistication' which means government and mental health units used tax dollars and pharmeceutical medications to do 'maintanence programs'. Even if one is trying to quit smoking.... Nicotine isn't the 'bad guy'. Its all the 'other' chemicals in the smoke.... and nicotine replacement therapy is strongly encouraged.... even if it requires being sustained on it. Well..... its just a change of one poison for another, and under the new programs already in placed or proposed.... another expense and demand on the tax payer to do little to stop a blight. If its all about control and enforcement..... look what its gotten us.... and the more we try to control..... the higher the price both on those who use and are criminally charged.... or on us for those who are identified for maintanance treatment.

That's what I have been saying all along. Its not what it used to be. The Republican Party used to be full of conservatives. Now you have Neo-Cons & Republican hippies that want to smoke pot all the time. One of two things need to happen. The true conservatives need to either take back the Republican Party & oust the Neo-Cons & others that are not a true conservative or As a whole, conservatives need to leave the party to wither & die & start up a newer conservative party. That is the only way that a conservative will have a voice & be heard.

I'm tired of having to vote for a candidate just to make a point. I've been doing that in the last three of the four presidential elections I have voted in. I want someone who represents me, my views, my ideals, & will do everything to better our nation & not destroy it.

    I whole heartedly agree.
I think we also need to start at the local and state level to change politics which are happening all over the nation.
I think we also need to work on looking into what procedures available to citizens within the state to recall their national legislators.... and if there are none..... to petition for changing our STATE (not the country's) CONSTITUTION to create a method of recall or impeachment.

Any time the government decides to 'declare a war' on something....... look out...... there's going to be MORE of it.

    War on Cancer= more cancer.
    War on Drugs= more drugs.
War on Terror= more 'terror'..... or government sponsored fear and justification for war...... and increased control of its citizens.

If we really have a 'health care crisis' its because we have no programs..... other than those which benefit the pharmaceutical companies, as in 'vaccination' .......that promote preventative health: If we did, we'd have fitness programs offered within communities, more reseach on nutrition and dissemination of information, research on 'cures' and 'causes' of disease and using the body's own defense and reparative mechanisms, instead of treating all symptoms and bad labs as drug deficiency states of health.... which promotes the 'pill is the cure' mentality.

.......................Think I'll take a valium..... since I've gotten so worked up over this...... as pot is illegal! (NOT. Just presenting a little sarcasm.......)
