They should really appreciate and like Bill.

After all he negotiated an agreement with them , then turned his head as they immediately broke it.

Clinton is the man most responsible for their opportunity to obtain nuclear weapons.

He is just trying to rebuild his legacy, for the sake of these two ladies I hope he is successful in this case.

What do you guys want? We could have sent Jesse Jackson, but I don't think you like him either. We could have sent George H.W. Bush, but he would have gotten ill and thrown up on Il (like that?). We could have sent Dubya to this "Axis of EEE-vuhl" nation to negotiafy the deal, and he could have flown in with a "Mission Accomplished" banner. No...short of President Clinton, our only course was to get Cheney to take Kim Jong Il hunting.

This comes very close to negotiating with terrorists.

Arresting Americans on trumped up charges is just another act of terrorism. Taking hostages to force negotiations.

The Obama Administration is showing weakness to a rogue state. Whether or not the hostages are released, this will end badly and promote more acts of terrorism by N. Korea and others.

Appeasement always does.

You might be right about the long term outcome of this. However two human lives hang in the balance. Sitting back and doing nothing is not an option. In my view, something should have been done before now.

It is hard to know anything about long-term with North Korea. There will be a leadership change soon and no one knows what impact that will have inside NK. One big thing the new leader will have to do is be sure he keeps the NK military generals happy. If he does not it might be a short time in office. My guess is the new leader will have to take a hard line until he has his ducks in line with the military.

Hopefully this release of the 2 journalists will also thaw the icy relationship. I am not hopeful, but ever the optimist. Kudos to Presidents Obama, Clinton, and everyone else involved in the mission.

As much as I despise Bill Clinton, if he can get those two women out of North Korea, I don't care if the devil, himself, goes.

It was reported that the negotiations for the release took place before Clinton went, that Clinton was the gesture. Madeline Albright, Clinton's SOS back when he was in office, had met with KJI and they supposedly got along great because both are short. At any rate, we know the NK Clinton nuke deal was a failure. I personally thought it was either a brave move or a stupid move, couldn't figure out which. An ex-President could be held for ransom or something....

As an aside, did you know that KJI's grandparents were Christians? I will double check and make a link - not trying to derail this thread, but it came to mind when I was posting.

Here is one link that says it, but it is different from what I had run across before a long time ago.

You mean like Iran taking hostage the hikers today?

Negotiating with terrorists always breeds more acts of terrorism.

(I mean negotiafying... like that MP?? lol)
