From Oklahoma Christians ....
Matt. 25:35 I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger, and you took me into your home.
Is it really such a stretch to say, "I was poor and uninsured and you helped me?"
Health care continues to be on the minds of Oklahomans. Now, an organization that represents a number of people throughout the community is stepping up to support reform.
Leaders of 14 faith traditions gathered at the State Capitol today to say they believe that it's everyone's god given right to have health care. The Oklahoma Conference of Churches organized their message which asks for a shared responsibility in health care. They also want to see that health care is accessible and affordable for everyone. Plus, religious leaders want to see the system be held accountable for offering quality health care. Reform is a heated topic, and they say the disagreements are not being expressed in civil ways.
Minister Bruce Prescott with Mainstream Oklahoma Baptists said, "Our first question ought not to be who sinned that this person is poor and uninsured. Our first question ought to be what can I do to help?"
