I think it's awfully telling of our media that their only concern in this Tiger Woods controversy is how it will affect his future ability to make money from endorsements. WOW! What about the immorality of the alleged affairs or of the compassion for his wife and kids? The guy is worth more than a billion dollars, and all the media is concerned with is possible losses financially. Gimee a break!

Speaking of out of line media coverage, while I totally agree with your point brother take another example. Yesterday arguably one of the greatest coaches in college footbal retires after 44 years of coaching 34 at FSU and he makes the sports page and that is it. yet here another fallen sports star is held up on the front page and as you say the big concern is will he be able to earn more money. Where have our priorties gone? Positive role models are forgotten while failures are publicized.
    God help us.

Sure seems like the media salivates over the troubles and sins of others, while they turn a blind eye to a good story. It's all about the MONEY.

And they, along with the politicians, have the most leeway of freedom re : "freedom of speech" in that they can get away with stuff that would land a private citizen in court pronto!!

And considering how they use (abuse!!:tear:) this freedom is going to make them pay dearly once the Master Judge renders His verdicts!

    MARANATHA!!!!

I'm not going to beat up the media over the fact that Tiger Woods is a moral let down. Frankly, if the media were to spend a large amount of time talking about his morality, we'd be arguing (and rightly so) that they're spending way too much airtime on gossip. The media is the media. They will report whatever gets viewers/readers.

The reason the media salivates over the troubles and sins of others is because that's what attracts viewers and readers.

Which is why I don't pay attention to that crap. Smacks of gossip to me. It's in the media, but its none of my business.

And since you brought it up, Bobby Bowden is a class act every step of the way.

God bless him and may he continue to touch the lives of young men.

More Bowdens, less Vicks and Woods.

What kills me is that, because Tiger is a known figure, his private life is being drug across every rag in the world. While he was wrong that's no excuse for the media making a circus out of it. Just another example of modern day's replacement for blood sports... instead of gladiators we use the media to disembowel others.

Was he on a city street or in a gated community?

Were the police called to the scene to investigate?

If it wasn't for the media, then Mr. Woods would not be wealthy beyond imagination.

If one lives by the media, then the person who does so much accept the bad along with the good that comes from it.

    (DRIFT ALERT)

A beautiful point re: the gov't!

I've seen the quote, but do not remember the source; "Any gov't that can give you all you want (think Katrina), is able to also take from you all they want (think taxes & freedoms).

Agreed. I pray for him and his family during this time. I pray they find peace the way God desires them to find it.

I have given up on paying much attention to the media anymore. Though in this culture it is rather hard to intentionally stay away from them.

The circus this created overshadowed some better stories.

Bobby Bowden and his legacy has been talked about by many sports outlets but has now but moved away from.
Tim Tebow and his powerful testimony has been completely missed...though that will possibly pick back up at the bowl season.
The Dubai debt issues needs some serious attention, the possibility of global contagion with this is too significant.
Finding room to speak about the rather sudden expansion of our military forces into Afghanistan is something that needs room.
The health care reform is ramping up for a decision.

    And plenty of other things.

I was glad to see that TW did ask for privacy. He should be given that, because we owe it to all our people. In our churches when someone falls we owe them privacy for the sake of their lives and our church. We can deal with fallout effectively from a pastoral level, but there is something about "old wives tales" in Scripture that should be minded. The arrogant intrusion of the media into someone's life to try to ferrett out the truth is just the tip of a larger iceberg.

I hope healing happens and pray that I am strong enough to resist the Devil in my life.

Healing will not happen unless TW trusts in Christ. TW is Buddhist.

Also, if you are a media figure, you need to expect intrusion when you commit adultery and it's discovered.

Tiger is a fine golfer and I watch him play from time to time but right now it would seem like the mass media would have bigger fish to fry, I dunno like lyin Al Gore and global warming alarmists?

I mean they've been trying to swindle the whole world. All Tiger did was fall victim to temptation. Small potatoes in comparison to my way of thinking.

He didn't "fall in", he willfully gave in on regular, frequent, and repeating occaision. The fact that he's a great golfer doesn't change the fact that he's a homewrecking puke that deserves whatever negative media attention he gets.

Like KenH said, if one lives by the media, then one must accept the bad along with the good that comes from it.

Well John being a sinner myself I sorta understand how these things can happen. Tiger made his own bed and now he's gonna have to sleep in it. That should be "judgement" enough for you.

Calling someone a "puke" is kinda strong language coming from you John I'm a bit surpised!

All I was saying is that compared to Al Gore and his ilk trying to fleece the whole world with their global warming scam this story is a non story. And goes to show how the corporate mass media uses it's power to protect those guilty of real crimes.
