I predict that this will be commonplace in 10 years in all but a few states. Unless SCOTUS makes it legal in all.

I disagree. Over half of all states have placed a constitutional ban on gay marriage.

Ah, but if SCOTUS declares these unconstitutional, that will overrule such state laws, rendering them invalid. Plus attitudes are changing, and laws can be repealed.

I guess we will have to wait for 10 years to see if my prediction comes true. :)

    I'm afraid you are right.

I also predict than in another 10 years the perverts will convince the courts it's "discrimination" if any pastor refuses to perform their g@y wedding ceremonies.

Once a cancer invades the body, it usually spreads and grows. This perverted lifestyle that God forbids is a cancer that is spreading, and nothing but God's intervention will stop it.

We have "gay" marriages, "gay" ministers, "gay pride" marches, and the cancer spreads. I believe that if the Lord tarries long enough that they will have full "rights", and we will be imprisoned or at least fined if we "discriminate" against them. Christians are losing their rights while the homosexuals are gaining more and more rights. They will be allowed to teach their filthy lifestyle to the children in schools as an "alternate lifestyle", and parents won't be able to do anything about it.

I think you are right. In fact, about 4 or 5 yrs. ago I told some friends that I thought same s*x marriage would eventually be legal in most states in the next 10 yrs. So I might be 5 yrs. off.

I think it's going to come to the Supreme Court one day and will be ruled on in favor of same s*x marriage. That will invalidate all the state laws against it.

This DC issue was sent to the Supreme Court to rule on whether DC City Council could prevent those wanting a vote on it from having such a vote. Chief Justice Roberts sent it back and said it was not time yet for the Supreme Court to rule in this area, meaning that they see it coming, too.

And Chief Justice Roberts is considered to be a conservative.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. I think they are waiting for the right case to show up to make a ruling. This case was not it since it had to do more with a question of allowed DC residents to vote on a particular issue decided on by the City Council.

Is it religious or civilian wedding ?

Years ago, we received a card at home. It was my brother in law's own brother, who was inviting us to his " wedding " with another man. We knew he was gay, but the most terrible thing was that it was a marriage led by a woman who claimed to be a pastor !!! Yes, a religious gay wedding :BangHead: I didn't even know it was possible ...
I took the card, read it, and threw it to the recycle bin. I said " you don't even send a reply to the invitation ".

slightly off-topic, but this google program where it identifies certain key words on the webpage you're viewing and then pops up or plasters an ad on the site is getting to be really annoying.
I just got one where it entices you to go to this particular website and hook up with the hottest singles in DC, and the other time on this thread one where you can hook up with the hottest gay guys in town !

That is the reason you should spell the word g@y or homosexu@l

But then again, I thought this subject was about homos#xual , not happy people

Our pastor announced today, that he thinks our church may apply to give up the licence to hold marriages at all, (if the law is passed, which will make it compulsary for him to marry these people or go to jail.).

Wow, does the UK force pastors to do something that conscience forbids?

I am braced for the first time I am asked to do such a ceremony and refuse ... we will see whether anyone tries to make clergy participation compulsory. I cannot imagine anyone not seeing that as a serious violation of religious freedom.

But back to the UK: would this rule apply to all pastors, or only to the Established Church, since, in a sense, its vicars are public servants?

Bishop Chane (Episcopal Church) has announced he will allow (encourage) his clergy to perform same-sex weddings in Washington D.C.

However, he has also initiated (along with the American Civil Liberties Union) a law suit against a Christian homeless shelter in D.C. claiming that the mission requires it's participants to attend chapel each night and that the mission only employs Christians.

    http://www.livingchurch.org/news/ne...hington-bishop-seeks-to-block-aid-to-homeless

A side note: The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles has announced that they are within one vote of having the necessary consents by the Standing Committees to consecrate the Reverend Glasspool as the first partnered lesbian as a bishop in The Episcopal Church. They have another vote to achieve the required one vote necessary. It's a done deal.

The Episcopal bishop of Los Angeles (Bruno) already allows for same-sex blessings.

That is a very good question. Given it is the U.K. I suspect that it will be required of all clergy regardless. Look at the trends there.

It is a legal one. They get a legal license for marriage. The terms "husband" and "wife" have been changed on the license to "spouse."

Same s*x couples have been getting married for years - at least, having a ceremony - but it wasn't legal marriage until recently, and only in a few states. Wash DC is now one of the places that has legal gay marriage.

Also, next door, MD is getting ready to vote, or has just voted, to recognize couples moving to MD who had same s*x marriage in other states.

The pastor you refer to could likely have been Unitarian, Episcopal, Unity, United Church of Christ, or Metropolitan Church of Christ.

More and more I'm beginning to wonder if 'Mystery Babylon" isn't the US of A.

After all, after defeating and removing Saddem Hussien, aren't we essentially the over-lords of Iraq (and the arm of the UN policing other nations) and we've exported our immorality around the world along with our merchandise...... and it continues to go down hill even here?

    Also:

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America now allows non-celibate homosexual pastors. This past years resolution that passed at their syodical convention did "recognize, support and hold publicly accountable life-long, monogamous, same gender relationships," though the resolution did not use the word "marriage."
