Census form came today~~I'm no anthropologist/sociologist but I know that Chinese and Japanese and Koreans and Vietnamese are not different races but different nationalities...if you're Thai or Laotian sorry about your luck but you are "Other Asian". Why do the Asians get special differentiation?

I guess I'll list the family as Anglo-Saxon in "Other" again this year~~gubment sorta asks for the inane and I feel obligated to support it:applause:

Such questions are intrusive and Unconstitutional. All I'm telling them is how many people live in my house. Anything else, they can guess.

I don't get a form because I live in the basement apt. of a house. I have no separate address. I saw the form come the other day, so it's up to the owner/landlady to fill it out.

The questions: (from http://2010.census.gov/2010census/text/text-form.php)

The Questions on the Form (Text Version)

1. How many people were living or staying in this house, apartment, or mobile home on April 1, 2010?
2. Were there any additional people staying here April 1, 2010 that you did not include in Question 1?
3. Is this house, apartment, or mobile home: owned with mortgage, owned without mortgage, rented, occupied without rent?
4. What is your telephone number?
5. Please provide information for each person living here. Start with a person here who owns or rents this house, apartment, or mobile home. If the owner or renter lives somewhere else, start with any adult living here. This will be Person 1. What is Person 1's name?
6. What is Person 1's sex?
7. What is Person 1's age and Date of Birth?
8. Is Person 1 of Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin?
9. What is Person 1's race?
10. Does Person 1 sometimes live or stay somewhere else?

I will definitely answer 1, 2, the last part of 5, and 10.

I will definitely not answer the first part of 5, 8, and 9.

Haven't decided on the others.

If I'm forced to choose, I will choose "eskimo/inuit" as a race, and I'm encouraging everyone else to as well. Those guys need a break.

The census is supposed to be a count. And a count they will receive from me.

Eight

2. Were there any additional people staying here April 1, 2010 that you did not include in Question 1?

I refuse to answer on the grounds that this question is Unconstitutional and violates my rights as defined by the Constitution. (By the way, this question dates back to 1790 and was used for the purposes of determining how many slaves a person owned. Last time I checked, we are no longer allowed to have slaves, so why is it still on the census?

3. Is this house, apartment, or mobile home: owned with mortgage, owned without mortgage, rented, occupied without rent?

I refuse to answer on the grounds that this question is Unconstitutional and violates my rights as defined by the Constitution.

Just so people reading this thread understand. It is illegal not to answer the questions. While unlikely, you could be prosecuted and fined.

"In Article I, Section 2, the Constitution says that an “Enumeration” must be conducted every ten years “in such Manner as [Congress] shall by Law direct.” Congress has directed through a federal law that anyone who “refuses or willfully neglects…to answer, to the best of his knowledge, any of the questions” on the Census form can be fined $100 (13 U.S.C. § 221). If you deliberately give a false answer, you can be fined up to $500. "

I don't understand the big deal. Lie on the census and three things happen:

Your community suffers

Your witness suffers

God is mocked

Is that good?

you could go to jail or be fined heavily, and the only thing violating scripture is us, not the form.

Even Mary, Joseph, and Jesus had to answer to the census.

Are we any better than them?

We don't even have to travel, or offer a sacrifice, to comply. These 'nice' people send it to our home and it doesn't cost us a penny. :)

unless scripture is being violated when answering these questions, it is wrong not to answer or to give false answers(which would be lying).

Why is it wrong to answer questions that it's illegal for the government to be asking in the first place?

I didn't lie~~I am of Anglo-Saxon heritage~~~what is just utterly bizarre is the nationality requests on these Asians. What's the freakin' difference if they are Japanese or Chinese? They don't ask for differentiation if African Americans come from Kenya or Cameroon. Create their Asian-American catagory and move on. If they are going to list every nationality in the world then get a bigger form. But please don't anyone play like it makes any difference to the community because of nationality...or "race"...

No kidding~~the point is what difference does it make in the census? If we Euro Americans had any sense we'd play the game. If I was a mick I'd proudly say I was Irish American instead of White...you get the point?
