I don't know of any "company store" although they were in existence many years ago.OK. There seems to be a psychological/social difference when the company store is owned by one of your neighbors. People seem to tolerate more . . . control when it is exercised by their own kind of people. For example, Americans rant against federal taxation over which they have almost zero control but ignore local excesses over which they have total control because mayor Joe is a 'good old boy.'
I'm not sure what you mean by "own kind of people." If you mean hard workers who care about faith and family and community, I might agree.
