I never cease to be amazed at man's endeavors to explain how we got here, why we are here, and what happens to us when we die. Yet, God's word gives us all that information.

An article in the news today said, "Discovery Could Explain Why We Exist." We exist because "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Quite simple I think. Also, "The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul." Gen. 2:7

The reason we are here is to bring honor, praise, and glory to God. Where we go after this life depends on whether we follow after God and accept Him as our God and His Son as our Saviour.

Instead of accepting and believing what is written, man is ever searching for answers to questions that God has already answered. "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." Psalms 14:1 and 53:1

Jon-Marc, I suspect this will be a short thread because you have said all that needs to be said on the subject.

That wouldn't surprise me, Tom, since I rarely post anything that interests anyone else. Most of the time I get very few (if any) replies.

You of course are right. However, I think, based on the article, there is no reason mathmatically that we should be here. Infact Anti matter should have cancelled out matter at the begining of the universe. However, a study of these Muons they've determined that actually nature leans to 1% towards the development of matter rather than its cancellation. There is no mathmatical significance for it.

I guess this illustrates why unregenerate man cannot "believe first" and then be regenerated, or born again, right ?
Unregenerate man must first experience a rebirth before faith comes in and with faith all the other ingredients like, repentance, obedience, etc.,

And I never cease to be amazed at how Calvinists can 'worm' in an attempt to justify their beliefs in an OP that is nowhere about Calvinism.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Isn't this specifically how God is glorified in us - and therefore the reason for our creation? IOW the very purpose for our existence?

13Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

11Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

16For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17And he is before all things, and by him all things consist

Exactly, which shows how great God is!.. Man, God continues to amaze me!.. and will continue throughout eternity!..

And to beat it all, the creator of the Universe is my best friend! HOW cool is that!...

PLUS, HE wanted the relationship with ME!.. ME... lowly me!.. So much so that HE took on flesh and died for payment of my sins, then called me to be his son!...

THEN, on top of that asked me to work with Him to build His kingdom.

To God be all Glory, Power, and Honor!

Yes, it certainly does. Since God has opened my eyes, heart, and mind to the truth of His word, it's difficult to understand why so many refuse to accept that truth. Of course, I was once like that.

I remember when I was 15 a boy in shop class in school asked me, "Do you believe in God?" That's all he said, and I cussed him up one side and down the other. When I finished, I noticed how quiet it was in the shop. Everyone, including the teacher, had stopped what they were doing and were looking at us. However, no one said anything to me about my filthy language. I was usually shy and withdrawn and not so verbally violent, but he must have pushed a button.

The truth is, I think I did believe there was a God but had rebelled against going to church when I was 13 and wanted nothing more to do with it. My parents didn't go but would send me. At 13 I decided that if it wasn't important enough for them to go, it wasn't important to me.

I thank God that when I was 16 another boy invited me to church, and I reluctantly agreed, although it was nearly a year later before I was saved on May 18, 1963.

Great Testimony my brother! Very much like my conversion story. I saw the same article and was amazed how people exchange the truth for a lie and they wonder "where did we come from?".....as if it's up for debate. Your right,we were once like that... Titus 3:3 "At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, DECIEVED and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another."

We Exist to Rule in Authority Over All He Created...

If I understand the Word correctly, we exist to have authority over, and rule, all living things that God made and placed on earth.

Genesis 1:26-28 - "God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth.(D) So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.(E) And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth."

Are existence is a spiritual On-the-Job training, as God prepares us, His bride, to one day rule over and judge the world and the very angels who are set in place in this life to "have our back", spiritually speaking.

Just as the County Sheriff hires and deputizes his men and women to serve and act on his behalf in the enforcement of county laws, keep-the-peace, and assist those in need, God has deputized His church to carry out the work of the church on this earth according to His word.

We exist to learn how to rule once we get to heaven.

Existence is a privilege. Existence is hard, demanding, late night work. It has its trials and tribulations, but, in the end we'll individually stand before God and be given as much responsibility and authority as we deserve according to the way we lived our individual life and how well we ran the race while on earth!!!

This is my opinion of why we exist, and I thank the author of this PM for a great topic.

Aren't you excited with what lies ahead for the faithful few ??? :applause:

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul :type:

So Sorry, I Forgot to Include a Verse

I didn't mean to omit these verses, my bad, don't be mad :BangHead: Please!

The verses about our judging the angels can be found in 1Corinthians 6:2-3 " Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!" (New International Version)

    Shalom,

I never cease to be amazed and wonder why the Creator and Sustainer of everything would love such lowly, sinful creatures as us. We were vile and corrupt, haters of God, and yet He loved us enough to reach down and touch us with His hand and place within us His Spirit and promise that "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

Yet, the majority of the world goes on in its ignorance and blindness, giving Darwin the credit for figuring out our beginning, or still wondering and coming up with all kinds of theories as to our beginning, our purpose for being here, and what happens at the end of this life.

Some believe we are reincarnated into another life form. Some believe we cease to exist. Some who believe in heaven believe that everyone goes there. If so, then why was it necessary for God to make a great sacrifice for us to go there? Some believe there is no God and try to explain the existence of everything with their finite minds, but how can finite minds comprehend an infinite God? My mind is still boggled by the fact that God has always existed and never had a beginning, that there is nothing He can't do if He desires, that He is holy, righteousness itself, perfect, sinless, loving, and has our best interests at heart.

Who would not want to know such an awesome God? Yet, many reject Him and want to do everything their own way--like the 2-year-old who says, "I can do it myself!"

Read Jon-Marc's OP and you will see that he also inserted his Arminian belief into his comment.
I simply pointed out the obvious answer to his statements, as follows:

"Instead of accepting and believing what is written, man is ever searching for answers to questions that God has already answered. "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." Psalms 14:1 and 53:1"

Obviously man cannot just accept and believe what is written, and by man, I refer to unregenerate, fallen man.
    I stated what I believed.

I did not take Jon-Marc to task for implying what he believes, when he said:

Where we go after this life depends on whether we follow after God and accept Him as our God and His Son as our Saviour.

He is welcome to what he believes, and I cannot but respect him, considering I think of him as a brother-in-Christ.
Now, I am sorry that you hate Calvinists and those who adhere to the Doctrine of Grace (don't waste your time denying you don't...your jumping at my throat for my statement shows you do), but on this board, if you haven't yet seen it with your 70-some posts, there are a number of theological persuasions.

If my theology raises your blood pressure, then you will do well not to stick around all that too much.

I am surprised that you took it as jumping down your throat, but I guess I can see why. I stand by my point tho - your own answer proves it. You looked for and found - or you see in everything - a small crack (whether intentionally put there or not) that you can wedge your misbegotten theology into and it is all gung-ho from there. trust me, you have not gotten my blood pressure up. And you are dead wrong to say that I hate calvinists - I have many good friends of this persuasion. I definitely think the theology is amiss tho - no question - nor would I choose to deny it.

The ad-hominem dig (talk about blood pressure!) on my number of posts may be valid - but if you look again, I have been around these parts since 2004 - not as long in the tooth as you - but not exactly a rookie either.

I have no problem with ANYONE posting what they believe--even if I don't believe it. I try not to make it sound as though I am always right since I've learned that I'm not. Besides, there is always someone more than willing to tell me how wrong I am--and do it as offensively and rudely as possible. Unlike some people I've come across, I am not a know-it-all. I am sure that what I believe is correct, but maybe it isn't. The important thing is that on May 18, 1963 I called on the Lord and asked His forgiveness and asked Him to save this wretched sinner.

I consider anyone who is born again to be my brother or sister in Christ--regardless of differences of opinion on some doctrinal issues. I don't condemn anyone for disagreeing with me or for having different beliefs--even if I do believe that those beliefs will cause them to spend eternity separated from God.
