The New York Times has called her one of the best preachers in New York and described her as “Billy Graham and Oprah rolled into one.”

that pretty much says what needs to be said about that.

Although I will never be compared to Billy Graham, I never WANT to be compared to Oprah. Her "Jesus" and my Jesus are two entirely different people!

Thing is, there are two completely disparate types of predominantly black churches:

1. Those who are churches. (Not perfect, but they preach a risen Christ, and point others to Him)
2. Those who are political organizations and primarily stumps and fundraising arms of the Democratic Party. (They pull stunts at these churches that are a reproach to Christ (not that He's ever invited to these places); not to mention--one could only imagine the firestorm if a predominantly white, conservative, right-leaning church put on the events some of these jokers do...and had the guest speakers, air time, and public funding...oh my, what a controversy we'd have.)

But, of course, to bring any of this up would be racist, so we have to let it ride...

About time he does something right!..

It could have been a Muslim. At least it's a Baptist, and while some here don't recognize women as Pastors, our denomination does (ABC-USA) and some are very effective.

I would be happy save there are some baptist pastors in both black and white communities that are racist and promote seperation of both. Some are as radical as Jeremiah Wright.

Your "denomination" also doesn't have a problem with homosexuality, so you can keep your "denomination", homosexuals, and your women pastors.

False statement.

"God's design for sexual intimacy places it within the context of marriage between one man and one woman, ... the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Biblical teaching." Statement of the ABCUSA General Board on 2005-NOV.

I couldn't find that on their website. I noticed many good things that they say they believe. I would not join one of their churches, however, because of their commitments to ecumenism.

Their actions speak louder. They continually associate with churches that endorse homosexuality.
