I assume this ruling also give individuals the right to those who desire a polygamy relationship?

Of course the Liberals did fight for them also didn't they?

Why would you think that? It would mess with the tax rules. <G>

(Gilbert Gottfried, speaking as Iago the Parrot):

"Why am I not surprised? I'm gonna have a heart attack and die from not surprised."

I guess those who group themselves in fives, and then marry pairs of goats, will be next on the list to receive their "inalienable right to marry anything with DNA."

I guess our votes mean nothing, as the court system can now overrule the majority of voters.:tear:

The Federal law does take precedent over state laws.

It doesn't matter though. This ruling will be appealed to the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.. Then, regardless of how they rule, it will be appealed to the Supreme Court.

And is marriage an area that the Constitution reserves to the Federal government?

If not then it is a matter for the States.

There are probably five votes on the US Supreme court to overturn this ruling. Even with Kagan coming on, there are probably five. The USSC frequently overturns this particular court's decisions as they are quite radical. Still, unfortunately, our society seems destined to allow same-sex marriage sooner or later and probably sooner.

This case was appealed to the Federal government, so it appears they have jurisdiction.

We better all pray the "conservative 5" stay healthy for the next couple of years.

Otherwise, we're all in the tank.

One of the points the judge made was that people's rights are not up for a majority vote.

That's true, but there is no Federal constitutional right to gay marriage.

Let's see, who stated that the USA wan't a Christian nation anymore? hmmmm--I know it was Barry O.

He was right, we aren't, Christian values have no part in our society anymore even if our laws were derived from the bible. Now we need to be salt and light more than ever. Having Barry in the WH is like throwing gas on a liberal fire--he strengthens the ungodly.

God gave Europeans in North America to "Christianize" this place. I'm guessing he has moved on to greener pastures.

I'll agree with others that have already said, this situation should encourage us to be the salt & light we were called to be. I would submit to you that PERHAPS we are here because we have failed to be salty in the past.

Remember rbell, whatever the politcal environment we find ourselves in followers of Christ are never "in the tank". Be encouraged.

The judge, to loosely use the term, that made the decision has decided children have no "right" to a mother and a father.

    Under the Constitution, true enough.

But, under the Constitution, marriage is not a "right" either, so he made it one.

In volation of the 10th Amendment.

There is no Federal Constitutional "right" to marriage of any kind by anyone to anyone, regardless of the sex of the people involved.
