Alvin Greene charged over pornographic pictures

An unemployed military veteran who stunned the US political establishment by winning a Democratic primary to contest a South Carolina senate seat has been indicted on criminal charges of showing pornographic pictures to a teenage college student.

Alvin Greene, a little-known figure who has been described as America's least likely prospective senator, is accused of approaching a young woman in a computer lab at his alma mater, the University of South Carolina. According to a grand jury indictment handed down today, he allegedly showed her obscene pictures and suggested going to her dormitory room.

If convicted, Greene could face up to five years in jail. The charges are a further blow to the credibility of a candidate who was initially overlooked as a no-hoper by Democratic party bosses before springing an out-of-the-blue shock by comfortably beating a former judge, Vic Rawl, to take the party's nomination for this November's mid-term senate race in South Carolina.

Any chance this is just the Democrats setting this guy up to get rid of him?

What do they say...?

Oh yes - "Eating their own?"

Presumed Innocent until proven guilty.

Since Tom Delay was not charged with any criminal charges, I guess there is hope for Mr. Green, innocent or not.

Would you let him take your 12 year old daughter to go get ice cream - before he was found guilty?

I have had two youth pastor in churches I attended accused of immoral charges. One of them plead guilty to inappropriately touching a teenage boy while on a field trip. The other, last I heard, was still being sought by the police.

Because of incidents like these I would be very cautious letting any child of mine go anywhere with anyone.

Sorry to hear that. That kind of thing will certainly impact any parent.

As a 20+year veteran of youth ministry, I would like to throttle folks like you've had the misfortune of encountering, because of how they've soiled our name, ministry, and reputation.

The problem isn't any one position. There are unscrupulous people in every profession, church or otherwise. Since it is impossible to tell who is trustworthy and who is not, I was very cautious where my children went, and who they were with when they were young and living at home.

Overall, I have experienced many, many more good pastors and other Christian workers than I have bad ones. This includes youth pastors and workers.

This is just your little way of saying that Tom Delay is not innocent even though he has not even been charged - let alone proven guilty.

More of that liberal double standard from Robert Snow.
