No I don't think it is fishy but for real.

As the article noted, this happens in places every year in oxygen starved waters...

Still, wow, it does boggle the mind. I feel especially sorry for anyone living downwind.

I have no doubt it's real.

Our Washington leaders wring their hands and cry about an oil spill (a bad one, but not unprecedented) yet continue to ignore the huge dead zones that develop every summer west of the mouth of the Mississippi along and off of the Louisiana and Upper Texas coasts.

Government policies, Corps of Engineer flood projects and the USDA all contribute to this problem, but they don't want to do anything about it because it's the failure of government and might make special interests unhappy.

But when a private industry has a failure, whoa... look out. Here comes the tough talk, overblown rhetoric and the blame game.

I wonder how long before those photos become an excuse to pass new, stricter environmental laws? Probably not as long than if the fish were doused in oil.
