This article should be interesting to follow.
Odds are it's a hoax in my uninformed opinion.

Sure looked exactly like a human tooth to me. Funny thing is, they try to make their evidence support their theories instead of vice versa.

It is terrible science to take a tooth and build a species out of it.

Let's wait and see what else happens here. :)

The only thing I find questionable is the dating of some of the fossils. Not that, as Billwald shares, "Everyone knows Adam and Eve got kicked out of the Garden 6666 years ago..." for the Bible actually has no dates, but that the earth is probably not as old, nor humanity as old as current secular dating suggests.

Carbon 14, for instance, is a rather reliable dating mechanism. It tends to start failing at about 10,000 years, though results are now extrapolated to 150,000 years and more. It is not the core test that has issues, but the math that surrounds it.

It's been done before. In the early 1900's the "Nebraska Man" was built from a tooth that later proved to be from an extinct pig.

Well we know this is incorrect. The claimed age of the find is older then the creation. Just another satanic attempt to make the word of God void.

I presume that you do not agree.

How much do you know about Carbon 14 dating?

    Hello Ken,
I hold to the evidence in scripture which puts it from 6 to 7 thousand years ago. While I am aware that there are those who choose to ignore what scripture gives based on genealogies and choose to go with other ideas I simply choose to base my beliefs on the scriptural account. I have always found the Lord and His word reliable.

So that would place The Great Flood at what, about 3000-4000 B.C.?

A good rule of thumb for sure. With one caveat. I can't find many dates in Scripture, especially in Genesis.

And note, I'm not arguing for an old earth! Just realizing that we may not be able to deduce (ala Archbishop Usher) the age of the earth from the genealogies in Scripture. Multiple others also tried to date via the Scriptural record, and most are close to Usher's dates. A commonly held theme in the 17th century was that the earth could only be a total of 6000 years, 4000 before Christ and 2000 after, according to interpretations of the creation week (6 days) and the Peter passage, "a day is as 1000 years..."

glfredrick thank you for the reply. I would say one thing. I do not hold to my belief based on dates. As you have pointed out there are none. I do however base my belief on what evidence is given in scripture and allow for what I feel is some reasonable amount of extra time because of the possible skipping of certain generations. In fact I might even stretch the time to as much as 10 thousand years, but again that would be a stretch. So I hold, although not closed fistedly, to a 6 to 7 thousand year past creation, but I absolutely rule out anything past 10 thousand years, and am only sparingly open to the 10 thousand amount.
I would say one more thing. I am not familiar with "Archbishop Usher" or his views on this, but even if I were and he was the smartest man on earth it would not change where I stand. I hold that while we might not be able to hold a view of pin point accuracy of the creation time line we can deduce from the account a resonable period of time with anything past 10 thousand years as being unreasonable and that is what I try and point to.

The engineer in me wants to know.....

How does one calibrate a device that measures carbon age by the thousands of years ? What is the general tolerance %. (Margin of error). Is this device registered with the National Bureau of Standards ?

Exactly. But don't let scientific methods get in the way.

The only thing I would change in your reply is that proven scientific methods are viable to support the young earth creation account and today there is no exact proof either way, because of imcomplete information. However we do know because of carbon dating that the earth cannot be millions of years old. Today what is being called science is not always science, but rather speculation mixed in with scientific research making the outcome non scientific, (un proven) to support a evolutionary or old earth view.
Here is a very good article that explains carbon dating and the possible problems with it.
