Every year, about Christmastime, there's a local jeweler who runs TV ads saying that if someone buys their wife a diamond they'll throw in a free shotgun.

I don't see the dealer doing anything illegal. They should leave him alone.

I have contemplated this story for a while this morning and find myself conflicted. Pizza Hut is out. Would I choose the .380 or the shotgun. Hmmmmm...

A single action 20 Gage is only good for small game. Growing up, thats all we had though but Im not that good any more. & a .380 is only good in Newark NJ. Heck I dont even like 9 MM ..... but that 45 he was using in the vidio, thats a great side arm.

Carried a 1911A1 back in the day. It was so worn out you couldn't shoot the bottom out of the holster. Only good in Newark. That's funny unless you happen to live in Newark. I'm all for gun control. Sidearms should be held in both hands while shooting. None of that gangsta garbage holding the gun sideways so the brass flies up in the air.

Now about that 20 gauge... Remington makes a nice little 1100 in 20. I was looking at one for madre and she called it a girls gun. After firing a couple hundred rounds through my 12 gauge 1100 I could see her point. I showed her one of those Cricket .22s with the pink laminated stock. She told me she'd rather throw sticks than have a pink gun.

Back to the OP before Salty has a hemmorage... There is no connection between DishTV and firearms but there is a basic marketing principle at work here. The feller knows his market. Apparently folks in his neck of the woods see getting a firearm as a nice little bonus for signing up for the dish. That's good marketing. I'm surprised there hasn't been folks barking about the fat content of Pizza Hut food. Folk just like to complain - and complain like the whole world will screech to a halt if they are not heard. This feller could offer free batteries for the remote and some person with an opinion would march outside his store complaining about batteries in landfills.

Back in the day, where I grew up everyone hunted. NW New Jersey was really more like Pennsylvania so they even closed schools down in Deer Season.

Back then it was more than sport, gettin a deer fed a family. And it was mostly duck, goose, woodcock & rabbit....mostly with single shot Mossburg 20 Gage. No pistols or rifle hunting in NJ. I still like my old Ithaca 37 Model 12 Gage because its lite & ejects from the bottom. Used a modified version for field recon in the Marines along with a Colt 1911. Im old school so I think the military is foolish for the standard issue 9 MM they use today...why put 2 to 3 rounds into a bad guy when a 45 gets the job done effectively in one round. If I had to move away from a 1911 then Id select the .40 caliber Browning Hi-Power pistol thats the Brit's prefer.... good dependable weapon.

Back to the OP, I quite agree with the marketing esp in Wyoming but I dont like Bersa firearms (too much like a Walther PPK). Id prefer Remington, Browning , even Benelli. And I dont like those small pistols. Id prefer a 357 Mag Revolver for hunting. You might consider a Ithaca 37 in 20 or 410 for your wife. Good light & dependable gun for small game & clay bird.

A .357 mag might not stop a grizzly. I use a S&W Modrel 29 .44 mag, with 308 grain rounds. I think it would stop anything. Shooting it gives you a nasty welt on your trigger hand's middle finger.

I quite agree with you on the 1911 .45 ACP. My favorite gun of all time. Right now I only have one, a stainless Springfield Armory.

Did you have to sign up for DishTV? Trying to stay on topic.

My 1911A1 was compliments of my uncle - Uncle Sam and his Army. I understand they can be match graded but mine was probably 30 years old at the time and showed it. I qualified on a 25 meter range. 26 meters and I might have been out of lethal range.

I know what you're thinking... Did I fire six shots or only five? To tell you the truth, I forgot it myself in all this excitement.
This here's a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and it can blow your head clean off.
Now, you must ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do you, punk?"

No, No, No the .357 for me might get use in Boar hunting Curtis. Guess you could use a slug & shotgun but that would take the sport out of it. Besides no Grizz in NJ. Not even NE Pennsylvania (Pocono Mt area)

Padre....what are you going to do with the 45? Can you even get them in NY State? Lotta Satellite Dish purchases for that. Could you get that in Montana?

There are no State gun restrictions. Also, you can hunt with anything you can legally carry into the woods.

All you need is a DD214, or a certificate from a gun safety course to get a concealed permit. Women are allowed to carry a gun inside a purse without a permit.

What I want to know is, who in their right mind would equate the cost of a pizza with a fire arm? Are pizzas that rare there?

It may not be illegal, but it is certainly in violation of their agreement to sell Dish Network services. Dish would not approve their logo being used with such a promotion.

I hope the guy gets some legal help.

If Radio Shack is exceeding the terms of their contract by forcing him to be politically correct, I hope he nails 'em good.

I think the promotion is a great idea. If someone put it on here, I'd stand in line to sign up.

Would love to see your copy of the franchise agreement you have with Dish - or do you have it stored away with BO birth certificate:smilewinkgrin:
