Wow - That's incredible and to think that here in NY, we just set a record for the wettest month ever. Not just the wettest August but the wettest month since they started keeping records!! I wish we could send you some of what we got on Sunday!! We had 7" and that was one of the lower amounts!

Yes I wish you could too and it could have happened if our politicians had not been playing games. Several years ago I tried to get them to start building a nationwide water system to re-locate flood waters to drought areas instead of letting it run off into the ocean and they thought it was a joke. Now we are all going to pay because of the higher prices that are coming for food and clothing.
Though I really think this has more to do with naturally occurring weather patterns the drought is really hitting west Texas hard.
The impact on beef prices is going to be significant in about two years. We might see a temporary depression in beef prices because of the flood of beef into the market, but whole herds of cattle are being slaughtered and not replaced because farmers are just having to give up their generations long practice.
I think Texas could use a good hurricane or two in the next couple of months.

I seriously doubt that the beef prices are going to depress even for a short time. However they will increase for more then two years because of any sell off since it take 10 to 20 years to rebuild herds even if the people do not go under.
Also the price of food is going to rise significantly because of crop loss. As for a hurricane we will pass as they normally do not dump that much rain, but they do a lot of infrastructure damage because of wind. A couple good tropical depressions spread out over a couple months would be fine however.
