I know some on here argue for the goodness of man in his lost state, when God states none are good.

Some, to argue their point, which is unscriptural to say the least, argue that since a man may not lie, or tells the truth, or may pray or whatever they want to say ini argument for man against revealed truth, use that to determine said person is then a good person, a person who does good and therefore is good.

It has even been argued that since man does this then God comes down and favors them for this and saves them. Cornelius was falsely used as a proof-text example, being completely misunderstood by those using this argument. This is works merited salvation btw.

Anyhow:

Let's play that unbiblical game. Is this fellow h*m*s*xua*l good too? He may not lie, he may even tell the truth, he may even pray, you know, the things you use to prove that man is good against God's revealed truth that man is not good. And according to the verdict of some, then this fellow is really good, not bad.

Aren't most Presbyterians Calvinists?

What we are seeing is evil under the guise of good glorifying evil and both are headed for the pit unless they repent.

It's a real shame bro.

This infatuation of not only our nation, but of the world with this horrific lifestyle is bewildering, and the pressure for each and everyone to accept it is intolerable and sinister at it's true source.

Once again you bring nothing to the table but a veiled slight against brethren.

hold on Preach.....perhaps the question is innocent & he just doesn't know. The PCUSA is a Yankee liberal phenomenon & they in no way represent Orthodox theology. In fact they shun it! The Presbyterians down in southland are PCA & the orthodox groups like OPC and Calvinistic Presbyterian Church & are all Calvinistic. There is a whole history lesson on this that I"m not even going to attempt but you know the result. Apostasy & sin abound. Typical Eastern State nonsense.:(

I hear what you're saying. I also know Roberts ways on here and his animosity towards calvinist brethren.

So, OK, I'll give him the benefit of a doubt. :love2:

I asked a question which EW&F answered.

Thank you EW&F!

Added: I will admit to wording this so P4t would be sure to respond, just out of fun. No offense intended.

...and I worded my response to you as is to describe your truthful mien and unfortunate behavior, especially at your age, on the BB.

No offense intended, simply truth spoken in love. :love2:

I beg to differ. You, in fact, did intend offense. I doubt you "speak the truth in love" toward those you agree with in the same manner in which you speak it here.

If you wife put on a less than flattering dress and asked you for your opinion, I believe you would be much more careful in choosing your words of love while giving you true opinion of her appearance.

Some people are good at veiled insults, some aren't. You happen to excel in this area.

But of course, you say yours wasn't intended to offend, which isn't your typical mien, I say that I didn't intend to do so, but only you are telling the truth.

I spoke the truth about you, in love. You won't face it or deal with it.

OK.

Doing good and being good are two different things. I think I made my view clear on this.

I don't recall anyone saying that man is good, but only that even sinful man can do good.

My post wasn't directed at you. But anyhow:

I do recall this.

The Scriptures say man does not do good. Psalm 14, 53, Romans 3.

They argue against Romans 3 that man is good and does good, and does, contrary to the passage, seek God. This passage ties in with a the Psalm (14) that "none are good."

A person must be made good to do good. This comes at salvation, not prior to. In lost state our righteousnesses are filthy rags.

That's how God views us. But if you want to view man through mans lens, you'll get a fallacious view.

Stay tuned and pay attention.

 Maybe you should pay attention to what the bible says.

Matthew 7:11

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

Apparently Jesus thought evil men could do good things. Good works do not make a good person though. That is my point. Pay attention!

Wow. Clearly you cannot comprehend what you've read and attempt to share with me.

The gifts were good, not the persons giving them. And an inanimate object cannot be morally good.

Now to the animate objects. Pay attention:

The persons were what? That's right; evil.

You need a course in hermeneutics, and you also need to understand truth in light of dogma.

Man is not good, nor can man do good until he comes to Christ. Prior to that he is at enmity with God, is a hater of God, and his righteousnesses are filthy rags.

Thus your point is unscriptural.

Also, all the other passages I gave you? Please take them to your pastor and have him help you understand them.

- Peace
