Horse meat, to me, is no different than cow meat. Or pig meat. Or turkey, fish, chicken, pheasant, or anything else we eat. Animals are animals, meat is meat.

Meat is meat and I don't have a problem with it as long as the animals are treated in an ethical manner. I've never eaten horse meat, but I think I'd prefer a farm-raised old horse to a company-abused cow or cage-raised chicken.

Juvenile Americans din't know the difference between their food and their pets. City people think meat is manufactured from raw materials in the back room of their local Safeway.

Anyway, horses as an invasive species and should be treated as such according to the law.

It's not my business what other people eat.

I wouldn't eat it so long as there's an alternative. Horses in this country have the reputation of being noble creatures. They are beautiful, the handsome prince always rides a horse to rescue the princess, they work side by side with humans to plough fields or to pull carts and have served people well. They are, in my mind, a special species that I hold more love and respect for than any other creature.

I'd eat dog meat before horse meat. I'd not want to eat either, but I'm trying to make a point. It would be worse for me than eating a bald eagle.

There's too much symbolism tied to horses to think of them as table food.

Its probably not a common dish. I don't remember my grandparents talking about eating horse.

My fraternal Italian grandmother told me once that when old horses developed clots in their legs they would starve the horse for 2-3 days then feed it onions and garlic which would dissolve the clots.

No recipes though.
