Equipment left in Iraq

Beside the loss of American life in Iraq, 1/2 billion dollars in equipment is being left behind. Supposed reason: the cost to high to justify returning it.

Not to mention the loss of an American attack-ready presence which IMO is constraining islamic terrorism by keeping their efforts concentrated in the middle east.

Soon (after we abandon Afghanistan) all these unemployed terrorists will be coming to our porous shores and borders looking to perpetrate their evil deeds - my opinion of course.

No matter what we believe about the US starting the war in Iraq, the frantic pull-out is irresponsible.

President Obama should have stood up to al-Maliki and the demand for Sharia Law.

BTW, Sharia Law for American soldiers?
Personally I don't believe that was the real reason for the pull-out but IMO a cloak to cover up the truth that we the sheeple would accept as credible.

Nothing new here. I've heard Dad and a couple of other WW2 vets remark about the incredible amount of equipment left behind after the war. One even said he witnessed hundreds of vehicles (jeeps) dumped from ships into the ocean for the very same reason, too expensive to bring them back.

Truth is, if Sharia Law was indeed the reason, Obama probably would have insisted that we stay. I cannot find a place where he is against the practice.

The removal from Iraq is purely motivated by politics and I expect the first set of television ads for Obama to say exactly that, "See, I (I, I, I, I, I) killed Ossama and got us out of Iraq..."

OK, without going into too many details I think it was a mix of political and philosophical reasons on the part of this administration -

except to say that in reality we did bow to Sharia Law by fleeing from it (and leaving 1/2 billion in gifts behind) rather than confronting al-Maliki and letting him know that while we were there we would deal with our own in our own way as their (Iraq's) interim captors and occupiers.

It's not the method with which we dealt with Germany and Japan, we made the dictates, they complied.

Now we are known as those who tuck tail and run from Sharia Law when that muslim sabre is rattled.

Indeed, most of the "expendables" were destroyed and not left behind as gifts and certainly not to the tune of 1/2 billion, inflation excepted.

As a boy (My father was a chemical warfare officer in WW2) I remember tons of equipment down to pens and pencils coming back flooding the war surplus market - sold and auctioned.

As a boy and an amateur astronomer I bought several sets of optics (lenses, prisms, filters, from dismantled telescopes, binoculars, etc) from Edmund Scientific Co War Surplus Market.

Almost everything was either destroyed or salvaged.
