Or is having a G.A. an indication the person is not an ungodly sinner?

I have read in the Bible where nations are given angels to watch over them.....and I have read where at certain times that God has assigned angels to look over individuals, families, even cities.

But where exactly does it say that we all have a gaurdian angel assigned to us personally? Permanantly, and especially for us as individuals?

All sinners are ungodly, these are whom Jesus came to save. If any man think he is not ungodly, then Christ did not die for such, He only died for the ungodly, Romans 5:6.

    True.

God loved us just the way we were. He also loved us enough to not leave us that way. His Word now calls us saints and members of a royal priesthood, and a people for His own possession. He transferred us into His kingdom and gave us a spirit of adoption, sonship even.

This is where some on here will disagree with me for sure.

Yes, we are all ungodly sinners. I hate it when I hear a pastor refer to people as either "saved" or 'sinners".....I am saved, but as long as I am in this body I am still a sinner.

The only difference between me and a person destined for Hell is that I am a forgiven sinner.

Still a sinner, just forgiven...Praise the Lord

Sure, the ones Christ died for, and who shall inherit salvation because of it Heb 1:

14Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Christ died for them while they were ungodly Rom 5:6

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Ok, yes you are right here, but the OP was referring to specific angels assigned to protect specific people. I see nowhere where this is biblical.

Do you think god has a assigned a specific angel to protect you....say angel "Bob"...is he gaurding you now?

maybe I am wrong but I dont see it scripturally.

I do know that this is very hard core RCC belief, but is it scriprual, and is it part of Baptist theology?

I believe Matthew 18:10 covers it, although it does leave room for different interpretations. If you can't see the guardian angel concept in this verse, you won't be able to see it at all.

To say that God has angels watching over our children is a far cry from saying that God has assigned a personal angel for you to protect you for life.

I believe that there are angels all around me right now, doing battle with the demons of Satan....but, I dont see any evidence that God has assigned a specific angel to protect me, and only me.

This is a RCC belief, and I dont see any scriptural substance to it.

It's not actual Catholic dogma, although it is a generally held Catholic belief.

Still, is there any scripture to support us having an angel assigned to us for life?

I have heard people go so far as to say that they see their guardian angel and know him by name.

    It is just a myth.

    John

PS....are all angels male? I never heard of any named Debbie or sue or Lucy.

I think you are completely missing the point of the OP. Jesus himself said little children have angels that watch over them.

Mat 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

So, there is no question as to whether little children have angels that watch over them, the question is whether God would assign angels to guard over wicked sinners?

I have enjoyed reading the comments even though some have been getting slightly off track. Thanks Winman for refocusing the thread.

I did not miss the point of the OP, you missed the point I am making.

Matthew 18:10 says that there are angels in heaven that intercede for the children to God. It does not say that the angels are always with the children or even protect them, it simply says they intercede for them.

Nor does it say that all of us have gaudian angels, or any of us for that matter. There is no way you can expand this one verse to support the idea of guardian angels.

I know that the idea of guardian angels is a touchy feely one, and that everyone wants to believe in them.....but just like the tooth fairy, it is just a feel good story with no biblical support whatsoever.

The OP addressed the question of whether gaurdian angels protect the unsaved. My point is that there is no such thing as a guardian angel even for Christians.

Yes, there are angels all around us that battle with the demons to protect us constantly....but there is no such thing as one being assigned to me personally.

I donnot have a personal guardian angel, and neither do you...it is a myth.

And it doesnt matter if i am saved or not.....it is still a myth.

Heb 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

I am not denying the very existence of angels or their purpose. But how does these verses show that we have "guardian angels" assigned to us?

Yes, the angels minister, they are God's messengers, even lucifer was a messenger for God.....but still, this is not the issue here.

Show me where God assigns "guardian angels" to us personally.

John, I would say the verses just posted lean strong in that direction.
