Gov Christie -flag half mast for Houston

Do you agree with Gov Christie's decision to lower the Flag to Half-mast for Whitney Houston?

It's not that I don't agree with the decision, but that I don't agree in how he came about making the decision. Governor Christie says, "she was a huge cultural impact", really? What does that mean? How is one to interpret that? Captain Kangaroo was a huge cultural impact if you really think about it.

Whitney Houston was a singer of love songs, and she will have more than enough honor and veneration from her own peers and followers. Leave the flag on state buildings to state figures.

Its just a ploy to get more black voters in NJ to support the clown. Why put a flag at half mast for a drug addict & chronic alcoholic who flittered her life & talent away? Typical politician maneuver. He should do the same for vets who loose their lives in these pointless myriad wars we are embroiled in.

No.

Flying the flag at half mast for anyone not involved in duty to the state or country is wrong.

This I agree with. How about flying the flag half staff for each service member who loses his life? They don't do it.

It's wrong. A flag at half mast is done for those who have served our country, not singers who died because of their addiction to drugs.

Ann, I'm surprised?

Here in the Empire State the Governor orders the US Flag to be at half-mast for any individual with a HOR of NY, or a GI stationed in NY (most from Ft Drum) is killed in action.

I believe the honor is for one day - normally the day of burial.

I know I have not seen the flags at half staff when servicemen in NY have died. :(

Keep in mind, that order would not apply to Federal offices such as a Post Office. But if you see a State or town office I would call them up and ask why not
