You will not find any "real" Christian who advocates retaliation.

Huh! Do you remember any current events? Do you not know why there is now two nations where Sudan once was? And you speak of Christians without scripture>

The Sermon on the Mount is clear enough. After 9/11 we should have prayed for the Taliban instead of trusting in horses and chariots.

BW,
That is such a nonspecific allusion to scripture that it makes easy the task of ignoring anything you have to say and then you answered no question. You make the fool of yourself and all of Proverbs assures us of the folly of such.

You are confusing the duties and responsibilities of an individual Christian with the duties and responsibilities of a government.

Youngster,
hehe, haven't been called a youngster for at least 30 years! Not all that young anymore! :D

You, contrary to misguided belief, will never find any real War Veteran that advocates unrequired retaliation and after thirty months, three combat tours. in Vietnam, I know what it is that I seek to avoid you learning. These people have declared, not just your death, but your extinction! It matters not that you seek peace, they do not. And this is not some isolated incident.

Vietnam was another ill advised war that sent our men over to interfere in the politics of someone else's country in the name of "national security" and fighting communism. One of these days we will learn that we have enough problems to fix in this country before we seek to fix the problems of someone else's country. Communism, or rather the fall of communism in the majority of countries who tried it, should have taught us that other peoples are just as capable of fixing their own political problems as we are.

A dictator is a dictator. The US is to blame for many countries woes because we supported one dictator after another as long as they played lip service to the ideals of democracy instead of falling in with the communists. A dictator is a dictator. Doesn't matter if they are communist, they all seek one thing: power. We shouldn't have supported ANY of them. Now we are in a mess of our own making!
On 9/11/'01 an airplane, loaded with folks, just like you, with their kids and families was intentionally crashed into the Pentagon and just before that two, similarly loaded with American Civgilians were driven through the Twin Towers murdering around five thousand innocent people! And then there was Flight 93. It was loaded with innocent folks also and was aimed at the White House to murder the President and his wife.

The only people that did the right thing were on Flight 93 and they were the only ons that had any chance to survive, the others opted to do exactly what you advocate here, they went like sheep to the slaughter, with zero choice in the matter. God has not called you to fear!

The people on the first three flights didn't have the intel that the ones on 93 had. Most hijackings follow the hijacking script and head off to Cuba. No one ever imagined flying a plane into a building. You can't call the people on the first 3 planes cowards because they failed to act in an event where 95% of such cases end peacefully with no loss of life. You can't know if they would have acted had they known what the hijackers were planning.

I most certainly am not called to fear. But I am called to wisdom and I'm certainly called to peace. Just because I own a closet full of guns doesn't mean I'm going to shoot the next Muslim I see in retaliation for the lives of 4 Americans who knew the risks they were taking before they accepted their assignments.

I'm sorry that I must say this but the truth is the truth. You, like most Isolationists, are very good at burying your head in the sand and then, without your head, sending your body off, to run down a Rabbit Trail full of deadly briars. Your commentary on the Vietnam War does nothing but illustrate the reasons for my lack of interest in silly, useless endevors and was intended, from all one can ascertain, to draw attention away from the issue.

You are not only naive, you have just proven yourself a scripturally proffed fool. When men, not a man but men, pull Box Cutters and murder people on an airplane, it willo not end well. One night my Helicopter was fired on by a truck mounted Quad-Fifty. We did not just change course and altitude and evade. No, when the Guns caught up with us we flew straight into the Fire Field of the gun, at a better altitude, so the Gun Ship could put some rockets on him and stop that before he killed a bunch of people.

The safest thing to do was to go complete our mission but instead we, eing the Command Ship, sent the other five on and we turned, as per Tiger 27s request, and showed him the gun position. You see, cowards die many, many days of their lives. I and thousands 0of other brave, Patriotic, Americans will die, exactly once, this first death. You are choosing the deaths of the coward and that is not the American way!

You, if you have answered the call of Jesus, were called to be a Peace Maker! Making peace can be a very messy task and will seldom be accomplished from afar!

Jesus also warned us not to cast our pearls before swine or they will turn and rend us.

The situation today is proof of that.

Tbill, since I'm scripturally bankrupt, why don't you show me some scripture that in any supports the idea that the way to peace is through war. Cause I haven't read that in my Bible.

I say this with the deepest respect because you have earned that of me but I cannot see bombs, bullets and rockets as pearls. I know, for sure, that when I killed those people in Vietnam, as a soldier, I meant no good for that person at all and the Vietnamese I fought in concert with, still love me as much as I love them but I do not expect that love from the NVA Regulars nor from the Viet Cong.

Sure, begin with Exodus and read through the Minor Prophets. When God sent His chosen people into the Promised Land He instructed the extinction of the peoples there. And be certain to read Mal. 3:6 and John 1:1-3.

Bill, we have again another person confusing the duties and responsibilities of a Believer with the duties and responsibilities of government.
Romans 13:3-4 said:
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

Sure, begin with Exodus and read through the Minor Prophets. When God sent His chosen people into the Promised Land He instructed the extinction of the peoples there. And be certain to read Mal. 3:6 and John 1:1-3.

I would be interested to know your answer for a what if question based on your experience in the service. If we were able somehow to get all of our embassies closed and financial dealings ended in all Muslim countries, at some point after that, if they threatened us, or attacked us somewhere else, how would you handle that nation?

It is very likely that quite a few will find this answer very distasteful, perhaps you also, but the truth is just that, the truth. The history, largely unrecorded, is that in early 1967 the Vietnam War was 90 days or less from being over. That condition did not change until after Nixon was elected. The only reason there are over fifty thousand names on that filthy wall in D.C. is cowardice and lust!

LBJ fnaly got rich off of the Vietnam War and there is your lust for money. It is, again, little known that the pig bought fifty-one percent of Brown and Root, who owned P.A.&E. but he did and terrified Mr. Brown with the escapades there-after. The cowardice came with the United States Congress, the foot wide yellow stripe up the middle of their backs kept the Joint Chief's of Staff from putting the Stamp of Approval on the plan to end it.

Now, your question, exactly what we should be doing right this moment, respond with overwhelming force!

Please understand one thing before going off on this answer, my answer is biblically correct and it is supported by scripture. The problem arises from a conglomeration of reasons. The largest of all of them is the New Testament Christian! They teach and preach a lie that is soaked up wholesale and scripturally, there is no such thing!

The first century Church taught from the same Bible Jesus taught from, the one He wrote, the Old Testament. Without the first thirty-nine books f the Bible, there is no Bible and since there is but one message from one Master, there is one context from eginning to end, salvation.

So it is with the first rule of Hermaneutics... No single scripture and no small group of scripture can ever be understood without the light of all scripture shinning on it. So, you see, love your neighbor as yourself must be considered in the same light as the command from God to exterminate the Canaanites, and without prayer, meditation and the leading and council of the Holy Spirit.

I hope I've been clear enough and God bless.

I totally agree. Instead of risking American lives, I would drop nukes.

So you think that since Isreal didn't get the job done back in the day that the US should feel free to do it now? Is that what I just read?

if that is true, then those people are not Catholic.

Just sayin..

WM
That is not true. I have heard missionaries from South America report that the Catholic Church presence, in order to attact the locals, tolerate a blend of Christianity and the nature worship they practice. The Catholic presence is very hostile to Baptist and Protestant missionaries, and through locals and sometimes directly, harrass, intimidate, and on rare occasion, use violence. That is a fact.

Just sayin....

The US is NOT God's "chosen people." Anyway, don't think God runs the world on Exodus rules in this dispensation.
