Check me out. This is one of two open air sermons I did that day. In the other video someone spit at me, and I had more hecklers than in this one. Sinners mostly just ignore me, but I faithfully and bodily proclaimed the word of God which is what counts. My voice carries well, however I misquoted a few verses and can improve my delivery at times.

I watched a short portion of this... so, what are you trying to acheive? Just "preaching" the gospel? Or evangelizing? or what? Is what really counts that you proclaimed the gospel? What am I missing?

Will listen with sound later and may post more. My first thoughts, awesome, and probably more biblical than a lot of churches. Keep up the preaching. Walls keep the gospel in.

It looks to me as if you are preaching AT people, not TO them.

I don't want to question your motives. But I would question your strategy. Is this really effective??? When the apostles were preaching in the streets, they had an attentive crowd and sometimes debate ensued. I can't say that the brief bit I watched that I saw such a situation.

BTW... it seemed like it was mostly throwing out proof texts w/out contexts. Is that helpful????

I can't understand the criticism of this brother. Seems like some of you are nitpicking. Some of the greatest preachers preached in the fields and streets. John Wesley comes to mind.

I listened to the message. At one point, you said "You can be saved if you turn from your sins and repent." Is that really true? My problem is that there was much about repentance and little about Christ.

Like others, I don't think it's the most effective means of presenting the Gospel. But I used to do street preaching in Washington, DC as part of a team. There were 4-5 people and we would take turns preaching but the others would stand and listen or at least pass out tracts that pointed people to Christ. Maybe you could get others to join you when you're preaching.

Am i missing something, i thought it was against the law to have a public assembly without a permit. Also if a preacher get's out in public and tells someone they are going to hell, couldn't they be taken up for hate speeches?

I was thinkin of the greatest of open air preachers ...one "George Whitefield" & that guy was extremely capable at drawing them in. I myself would like to know how he was successful. It was upon listening to his particular open air sermon, "Method of Grace" that I came to my salvation after 53 years.

Perhaps there is study on GW technique. If you find it ...let me know.

Depends on the town or City you are in.

Currently, I would say that preaching on hell is not hate speech - yet

Also, I would like to mention that I would agree that street preaching is not effective as it once was. Sure, some are saved thur this method, but there are more effective methods in the long run.

    A Thought...

I'm not about to question this brothers motives for his street-preaching. I admire his boldness and wish I had some of it. When declaring the Word of God and the Gospel the question of the "effectiveness" of the method employed should not be part of the argument in my opinion, but rather the truth and accuracy of the message delivered....by whatever the means. The IS a very BIBLICAL place and justification for this method of delivery. The results of it are in God's hands. I do, however, believe that the message should be delivered in a compassionate,passionate,non-hateful (aka.,Westboro Baptist style) manner that communicates the unfathomable love of our blessed Saviour who gave Himself as a sacrifice for this lost and dying world.
As for the BB...we have too many critics here for critics sake.At least Bro. Evangelist is "out there" trying to do something. I wish I had MORE of that kind of spiritual "moxy". Preach on brother. Don't let the naysayers bother you. As long as you have God's approval nothing else matters! You MIGHT enjoy the following website (or at least some of it):
Banners Unfurled: Street Preaching and Street Preachers
(this is NOT a "blanket endorsement" of this website, all street-preachers, or "all" their various methods and styles)....but I do like "Acts" style evangelism. Preach "heaven sweet and hell HOT...and Christ ALL THEY NEED".

I would say that it depends on the preacher & the message & the support of the Holy Ghost. Could you imagine I guy like Whitefield & Edwards starting a full revival!!!!! God used these men to His purposes. Nothing could be more exciting .....to be blessed in that particular vocation. But note, these men were completely committed & did it constantly.

Spiritual moxie not withstanding, Whitefield provided complete sermons at his open air services.....not sound bites, not tracts.....but a complete message directed at those willing to listen. some are blessed by God in this technique & some aren't..... but I would not stand & listen to anyone who was nither practiced nor stressing a complete message.

I think one of the reasons people listened to open air preachers in the day of Whitfield and Wesley is because a lot of people after a long week of hard work mostly on the farms sought out places where people might gather, usualy in towns, to visit and find out all the news. People back then were not in any hurry and usually made a day out of the journey. The open air preachers drawed large crowds, but if we were not there can we rightly say that some gathered and listened just because they didn't have anything else to do. I once read a book about George Whitfield preaching a sermon in the open air and the crowd was so large than one man said, while standing on the outside circle he witnessed a woman very emotional in tears. He went up to the women and pointed out the fact that they were so far back in the crowd words of the sermon was hard if not impossible to hear. She replied, Even though i can't hear every word, the sway of his posture brings me to tears. Another reason, the popularity of two well known preachers commanded an audience. These two reason though don't take away from the fact that God had called men in that time to open air preaching. I would think it hard today to preach a complete sermon to people that won't stop and listen. Maybe one liners like repent or perish or turn or burn would have more of an effect with people passing that can't wait to get out of hearing.
