(CNSNews.com) - The Obama Justice Department is arguing in the United States Supreme Court that children do not need mothers.

The Justice Department’s argument on the superfluity of motherhood is presented in a brief the Obama administration filed in the case of Hollingsworth v. Perry, which challenges the constitutionality of Proposition 8, the California ballot initiative that amended California’s Constitution to say that marriage involves only one man and one woman.

The Justice Department presented its conclusions about parenthood in rebutting an argument made by proponents of Proposition 8 that the traditional two-parent family, led by both a mother and a father, was the ideal place, determined even by nature itself, to raise a child.

The Obama administration argues this is not true. It argues that children need neither a father nor a mother and that having two fathers or two mothers is just as good as having one of each.

Here is a prime example of why this country needs to oppose homosexuality. It is far more than just what goes on in the bed room. It effects children as we can see here.

And the moral depravity of this President ...well there are just no words.

It's one thing to deal with what's going on in the bedroom but we KNOW for a fact that this agenda is way more far reaching. Someday soon, it will be a hate crime to even preach marriage between one man and one woman, I'm sure.

Unfortunately, this is going to be the norm and we will see 50 and 100 years from now the ramifications in a twisted society.

I agree, and I weep for this nation and my children and grandchildren. There is only so much God will take from a nation that turns its back on Him. Live and let live is no more than compromising with the devil and sin, imo. We need to take a stand and and that means getting involved and letting our reps know how we feel, for one thing, and not be afraid to say , "this is what God says".

If this is true, it chills me to the bone. If a child does not need a mother or father, then don't we have a new defense for abortion? I'm having a hard time expressing this in terms that make sense, but it's reciprocity: if a child doesn't "need" a mother or father, then a mother and/or father don't "need" a child. Thus, abortion is warranted and justified. And thus, the family unit is further destroyed.

Am I making any sense? Or did someone slip something in my Powerade at lunch?

And the justification they use is equally appalling!
