Got a new job and its at a beer shipping warehouse. I feel bad about shipping the beer to people all over but I need work and should do this (at least for the moment). The body does need some alcohol as the most effective mouth rinses do have alcohol. I have used non alcoholic mouth rinses and been to the dentist and alcoholic ones and the difference was very obvious. The alcoholic ones do clean the mouth far better than the alcohol free ones, and even the dentist agrees, and also the American dental Association. Those holding to total absstence use alcohol free mouth rinses and do not understand how the body works.

Anyways I feel bad about this job and helping Satan and his devils accomplish their goals. What should I do?

First, stop justifying it. Really--comparing beer with mouthwash? No, just, no.

Second, remember: Nehemiah took the king his wine.

Third: keep looking for another job. You're obviously not happy with this one.

The answer to your question is in Romans 14:21-23. So the answer based on what you wrote and those verses is yes you are in sin.

Back when i was a teenager i worked for this old man putting his tobacco up in his barn. He had a tobacco base and he grew it every year. This old man was a free will Baptist deacon that was againsts smoking. One day i saw the old man down around the barn and i ask him, if you are against smoking why are you growing it ? his reply was, all of his tebacci (tobacco) went for medicinal purposes. 1 Cor 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

    I like Don's answers.

Like my momma used to say, "Son, if you had to ask...."

This mama was thinking the same thing.

OP - You are uncomfortable with it. This is beer - not mouthwash. This beer is not going to make mouthwash. It is for partaking. You cannot justify one thing by saying a component in it is used for something else. That just doesn't work.

It does sound like you are in sin because of your conviction.

...however this 'conviction' may have been artificially gained by the legalistic church of today that created it. One can have an artificial sense of guilt due to an extra biblical mandate. I wonder how many women feel guilty about wearing pants, jewelry or dancing?

If AFTER going to Gods Word on a matter and not mans extra biblical commandments he feels guilty still, THEN he should quit.

I'll take the job, as I have no qualms about the proper use of alcohol.

Would the advice be the same had he gotten a job at McDonalds contributing to gluttony? Of course not...gluttony is the pet sin of the modern church.

If one were very concerned with gluttony - or with humane animal care or something like that, I'd tell them the same thing if they worked for McD's.

I really need to understand this......What is it with you people? Beer & liquor in general is not in it self sinful. Its the ignoramuses who allow it to control them that use it to alter their minds that are the sinners. I mean is it cultural? Have you been raised to look at beer & liquor as devils brew? My good Lord, Christ drank it? So what is the problem? Just amazing!!!

My point is we need to discern between artificially gained convictions and convictions of the Spirit. They are not one in the same.

    Scripture DOES NOT affirm this.

Did He partake of the Passover? If your answer is yes, Scripture does in fact confirm it.

salzer mtn, the first church we joined right after accepting Jesus (we had moved to another city) had a pastor that went all over me like stink on rotten eggs about smoking.

The most elder deacon grew tobacco!

This was back in 1972. Forty one years ago and I still remember it. Some people cut to the bone.

Nice try but it does not. There is no where in Scripture that it says Jesus drank wine.

Just another Christian fable to make folks feel okay doing what they do.

Jews do not drink fermented wine for Passover.

Just like orange juice gets a nasty taste after sitting and starting to ferment, it is not considered GOOD orange juice.

Grapes do the same thing. The best is freshly squeezed and does not ferment.
