We had another hard drive go out on our computer, 2 in 3 years so we bought another one.
We got the new one, hooked it up and the wireless mouse did not work so I hooked up another one. I then called HP after I looked up their support number online via Google.
They answered and told me all the same things "Not a problem sir, got all the info, and said we're sorry about the inconvenience and asked to remote in and see the computer settings.
At that point this guy asks me to pay 299.00 to fix it, and said he would also take care of my registration fee as well to register my computer -- that's when I shut off the computer -- all the while he was typing in notepad 'wud 149.00 be better'? after I told him there is no way I was paying anyone to fix a mouse or new PC ANY amount of money.
He at the same time said he was going to transfer me to Microsoft since it was a Microsoft issue, and the one he transfered me too was saying on the speaker phone to me 'Hello sir, you have won a trip to the Carribeans'.
Uh...LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW! :wavey:
BTW, I found the real number, and they are sending a new mouse in the mail. I also told them about this scam. They seemed surprised.
Not sure what to do. FIL says call FBI and the would be very willing to shut down the scam.
