The attempt to defund the Great Pretender's fraudulent health care plan

The House on Friday will vote to replace ObamaCare with a plan that expands tax breaks for Americans who buy their own insurance, setting the stage for a showdown with Senate Democrats that could push the government toward a partial shutdown at the end of the month.

More than 140 congressional Republicans signed on to the bill to keep the government running at existing funding levels and delay the health care law. Democrats have vowed to oppose that bill, warning the strategy risks a government shutdown, with funding set to expire by Oct. 1.

Under the proposal, Americans who purchase coverage through state-run exchanges can claim a $7,500 deduction against their income and payroll taxes, regardless of the cost of the insurance. Families could deduct $20,000. The plan also increases government funding for high-risk pools.

While I favor defunding, or an outright repeal of, this totally unworkable and bankrupting "health care" plan put forth by the idiot occupier of the White House, this is tilting at windmills, ala Don Quixote. As Bill O'Reilly said last night on his show ...

"There is no way Obamacare is going to be defunded. It is not going to happen."

O'Reilly then spoke to Tea Party Express chair Amy Kremer, who wants to defund the program.

"What you are trying to do...is impossible," he said. "Do you not know that?" He added, "I just think it's destructive to your cause."

This is politics, pure and simple, all for show and it's a bad production at that. The Republicans want to appear they are actually doing something. Well, why didn't they try this as soon as the got control of the House five years ago? Oh, I know, they made pretty noises about doing it then, but never made a serious effort. And why? Because, like O'Reilly, they knew then as he knows now, it is impossible as long as Harry Reid and his cadre of fellow socialists control the Senate.

They may succeed in shutting down the government for a time, but in the end, they will have to cave. They can't leave the government unfunded and in chaos. The socialists know it, and they are counting on it.

The Republicans are playing a dangerous game. Their animosity toward Obama is so great they are willing to shutdown the government, delay raising the debt ceiling, possibly further lower our credit rating, and accept turmoil in the stock market in order to prove their points. If they do this self-destructive action they will be blamed for it and the House will be under Democratic control for the last two years of Obama's term. Then watch as Obama further "fundamentally changes the country" unimpeded.

Yes because it could not be about sticking to reasonable principles it has to be about animosity.

delay raising the debt ceiling, possibly further lower our credit rating,

I would research this more If I were you. This is not exactly correct.

and accept turmoil in the stock market in order to prove their points.

Uh what?

Not a given. A recent poll shows a majority of Americans are willing to see the government shut down over Obamacare.

Not so much dangerous as stupid. Personally, I don't think it would hurt a thing for this corrupt and partisan government to be shut down for a few days or even a few weeks. Americans are willing to let it happen, but the socialists like Reid and Schumer are too dense and stupid to see the damage the Empty Suit's "health care plan" is going to do, and they won't back down.
Their animosity toward Obama is so great ...
It has nothing to do with animosity. It has everything to do with wanting this unworkable, unwieldy and illegal program brought to a screeching halt.

... they are willing to shutdown the government, delay raising the debt ceiling, possibly further lower our credit rating, and accept turmoil in the stock market in order to prove their points.
Yes, they are, and while I don't believe it will work, and further believe the spin doctors on the socialist side will manage to rev up their lapdog media types to make sure voters blame Republicans next year, I think something needs to be done. I just don't think this is it. I also don't know what can be done other that this.

Also, this country credit rating has nothing to do with shutting down the government. It has to do with how badly the socialists have managed the budget and the economy.

If they do this self-destructive action they will be blamed for it and the House will be under Democratic control for the last two years of Obama's term. Then watch as Obama further "fundamentally changes the country" unimpeded.
He's already done that. I'm not so sure there isn't a slight chance he will look for an excuse in 2016 to cancel the elections and find a way to have himself declared "president" for at least another term. I'm sure he wants something like that. I just don't know how he would do it in a way the American people would stand for. Perhaps create some artificial crisis that will enable him to "declare war" and refuse to step down? I don't know. Its far fetched and unlikely, but I think he'd plot something like that in a heartbeat if he thought it would work, and somebody wouldn't take him out with a Remington 700.

Really? You were making so much sense until you said this. From what I can gather from your posts you've been a political observer for quite some time so surely you are aware that the same thing has been said about Clinton, George W, and Obama. They would come up with some crisis to suspend elections. It was mentioned on BB just last year. I'm kind of disappointed you posted this.

Here's a poll that shows 43% think it is a good idea to NOT raise the debt limit and that over 70% say it would cause serious harm to the economy.

Yeah, I saw that. We're actually talking about two different things. Your poll is about a government shutdown, mine is about the debt ceiling. What's interesting about the poll I posted is that over 70% agree that not raising the debt ceiling would "seriously" harm the economy, yet 43% are for going ahead with that plan.

They are actually connected so much so that they are twos sides of the same coin. Not different enough.

Sorry, but I think it entirely possible he really is that treacherous. But again -- you did notice I said this, right? -- "Its far fetched and unlikely, but I think he'd plot something like that in a heartbeat if he thought it would work, and somebody wouldn't take him out with a Remington 700.:

That was a good post. What will happen in reality, as you know being an intelligent man, the conference committee between the two houses will compromise on a bill, and in the nick of time, the debt ceiling will be raised.

This is just my opinion, but I do believe what irritates me more than the out of control spending is these buffoons from both sides and both houses as using phrases like "we are rolling up our sleeves to work for you." So what do you want, a gold star for doing your job that you have a 20% approval rate for?

Everyone of them ought to be in prison for treason, bribery, theft of tax dollars, and economic terrorism.
